Suunto Watches / Compasses

They are great looking watches but even some of the reviews on the Suunto site are not that great - battery life, accuracy, reliability all have some issues.

At one time OSTS had the Luminox watches but I don't see these on the site now. Any chance these will be back?

Along with that the screen is hard to read it day light, writing on/around the body of the watch wearing off extremely easily, compass mode NEVER works, altimeter and temp. gauge are always "working" but are incorrect.

It sucks cause I want to like the watch...LOOKS good and price is decent but when everything your paying for doesn't work? Kinda pointless.

My first one had a bad seal and the first time I went swimming it died. Second one about 3 weeks after getting the replacement had the left top button stop working. Third one got water in it somehow while swimming again. 4th has been good so far.

Thanks T

You had it fail 3 times and are still trying again for a 4th time?!?!?! Damn...

An easy fix for the compass is to adjust the declination so it matches actual north. It isn't a perfect fix, but it works. My Luminox has lost all it"s printing, it's just a side effect of actually using a survival watch in survival type situations.

I've had my Core watch for a year and best watch ever! I had Timex watched in the past but this Core watch is a thousand times better.

I would recommend this watch to anyone.

I will chime in on this one. I have the X-Lander Military and I have beat the hell out of this thing. The low battery warning has been on for more than 2 weeks now and it is still keeping time and allowing me to use the features. Other than some scratches on the dial it looks as nice as the day I got it.

On one backpacking trip the compass feature started to act wonky, but was an easy fix by taking the battery out to reset it. I checked it to my compass and all was well.

If you are thinking Suunto get it!!!

I have had my Suunto Vector HR for 3 years now, it has been beat around Afghanistan on tour and the last year and a half again in Afghanistan. It has taken a constant beating banging around ammo cans and weapons and only has a few scratches. On my last R&R I had the battery replaced, and when they pulled the old one out and checked it, they told me the battery was at 50% so I keep that for a spare, not bad for 3 years of use.

The Vector HR has dual time, altimeter, barometer, compass and wireless heart rate monitor. I would positively get another Suunto, well worth the money.
