SV-99 Some pictures

Looked at getting one about 3 years ago. Was told no Russian military hardware sales, and the SV99 qualified as a military rifle . Some guys in the states have made mock ups with the IM-2 (Not sure if I got the model right) which I recall was a civilian rifle for biathlon. The Izmash Biathlon models were once sold in Canada, but no longer and very expensive if you can find one.

There was some talk about getting them in, but at $900 each for the civilian biathlon model, well I'll be passing. Still would love to have a SV-99 though.

Nice pictures.

That is correct, Russians don't want to sell the rifle as it is :( It's a military issue rifle and export controlled by "Rosoboronexport" (Russian defense export division). We are trying to have them to produce a civilian version (no sound suppressor, etc., just like they make Record a commercial version of SV-98). Technically it's very doable as the rifle built on Biathlon action, just different barrel and "sporty" stock. It's a long shot though.

We have Biathlon rifles in stock.

I guess that means the SV-98 is definitely not exported then :(

We also have them in stock.

Teapot, is that scope forbidden too, or can it be imported!
I don't care about the mount; what gets me is the small size of the optics.
PP.

Most likely pictured scope is no-no for export, or overpriced, but I will find out.

Thanks for sharing. That's the best SV99 album I've seen yet, even better than any posted at RFC.
I haven't given up on getting an SV99 stock.
Somebody at Rimfire Central has a Russian connection and claims to be very close to negotiating a shipment to this side of the world.

Teapot, when you see the IZH reps at IWA in Germany in March, Please remember to talk to them about getting this stock.

Any guesses to what the landed cost of this might be?????
