Anyone see the SVt-38 at Switzers sell for $6500 plus fees. So probably around 8k by the time its in the owners hands.
I wonder how many of these are in Canada?
Some cool stuff at this auction like a Gew98 sniper

That seems about right, I do not think there are very many intact SVT38s left in the world.

I agree, I guess it still can't be imported "legally" into the USA so it would be likely a domestic buyer...as a piece of history it would be a fine piece for any museum etc. Honestly in a better economic climate such as say as little as 2 years ago I think this rifle would have sold for much more.

Lots of European buyers there. I was quite surprised to see UK origin bidders for pistols.

I went high on a couple of things I sorta liked.

I got the 2.5" cannon and the HK-91. I'm 12(5) so the -91 will stay live...not getting dewatted.

NS

Pretty sure people bidding against you were licensed too. (I wasn't one, that gun was too expensive) Couple were exporters.

Just make sure to sell it and not surrender when you are done with it ;)

There was a guy on CGN about 10+ years back selling two SVT-38’s,
One was a bit nicer than the other. I’ll check my hard drive.

The Winchester P14 was a non refurb rifle. Not common at all

Yeah that was a nice piece.....I bid on it but pulled out, thought it was a little steep but they don't make those anymore and finding one that never went thru the Weedon refurb process. Not very common with the volley sights and IW PATT 14 marked stock. Everything looked period correct!
I'm not regretting it "yet".

LOL

I am sure that is exactly what the 2 guys thought (winner and other bidder) at the last Switzer auction that bought my CZ 38 for $1400 plus premium and GST

I am also sure they may feel differently after an identical one came up at this auction and went for $600.

Probability of rare or uncommon items doesn't work like most people think.

But I am perfectly happy that some do think so! :) $$$$$ :)

Are there any 12.4/5 bargains to be had or is everything going for top dollar? I rarely look at auctions because the prices and premiums seem to be nutz to me.

Auctions are designed to get people to pay as much money as possible playing your emotions to do so. Sometimes you manage to get a steal but most of the time items go for more than they would anywhere else.

Just look at those shot out and sea rusted Chilean navy Ross MkIIIs going for >3000 or that 1941 Johnson going for 8 grand when wolverine had one all summer for 4.

I usually put my Max bid in a couple minutes before auction begins and log off. Did it on this auction for a couple dewats, although they only went $50 above my highest bid. I've been sucked in during auctions and find this is best to not over pay

So it's you Marshall that keeps bidding up my Marlin 39A, I have been looking for one as well and they are getting 1000 - 1500

Nope, When I looked the first time it was over 3K, so I just went and had a scotch. My investment was 80.oo So some other fool is out there.
