SVT 40 all black

Obviously you have no idea what the term "fudd" means. We are simply encouraging that he not ruin the value of this firearm, both monetary and hostorical. Bubba'ing a milsurp is not a good thing. If you must, go play with a norinco SKS in your basement and do all the stupid s**t to it you want. If you have seen some of the heartbreaking bubba jobs that many of us have, then you will realize why we dicourage it.

If I "must" I'll do whatever the heck I want with whatever I decide to buy. I think SVT-40's are sweet just the way they are (actually if I had one I'd build a different stock for it and put the old stock away on a shelf), but you folks need to realize that most people in this world could give a rats ass about some old gun. And if the guy wants to actually shoot it, or even better, hunt with it...coating the metal with something more durable than factory blueing is a darn good idea. You need to realize that "collectors" can only buy so many of an item that really doesn't have collectors status. There are loads of these things, how many thousands of original condition safe queens do we really need? Keep your safe queen and let the rest of us have our fun. Then when there are hardly any left, we can continue not caring because we had our fun and you can sit there and fondle your now collectible collectors item. Mmmkay?

it's his gun. if he wants to paint it i'd say let him at it. just cuz you wouldn't do it doesn't mean it can'tbe done. on the opposite note, just becasue it can be done doesn't mean it should be. But as per my origional statement-- his guns his rules, do whatever you like.

You know nothing about milsurps, nor do you apparently care. So how about you dont ruin any and just go buy some other guns to tinker with? Leave the milsurps to those who " give a rats ass about" them. To us, they are more than just "some old guns". I really dont know why someone would spend 350$ or more on an SVT, just to ruin it, when a Norinco SKS is half the price, way cheaper ammo and has alot more aftermarket stuff for it.

By the way, your insult of calling us "Fudds" doesnt make any sense. Do you even know what that means?

Thats not the point. Why dont we take an all original '56 corvette and put 19" chrome sprinner rims, neon, a fartcan and a canadian tire body kit on it, and spray paint on some flames too. Youd never see another one just like it! But thats probably because its an abomination and youve just ruined any collector or resale value.

...Dude. That's Exactly the point....
The OP has not asked about collector value. He has asked about how to "paint it black" The OP n'er asked if he should, he asked how...

This post was moved here and, the guy just wants a black SVT...

Finn captures were converted and, marketed here in .303 commercially....originals are not exticnt WHEW. One fella wants a "black one" and...

Well aslong as its "unique" i guess

It never ceases to amaze me why people want to brag about bubba'ing milsurps in the milsurp forum and then get all defensive and insult the milsurp lovers when we comment on it  Basically trolling if you ask me.

Mods should make a dedicated " bubba'ing" forum where they can discuss all this crap and not beg for an argument from us milsurp guys.

It's his rifle and he can do what he wants, but I'm always amused when Bubba comes into the Milsurp forum, asks what the best way to go about his work is, and then gets pissy when he doesn't get the response he wants.

Any one can do anything to his or her priority. But say if u see some one trying to put a ricer spoiler on a 69 camaro, as a fellow men, you have the responsiblity to tell him not to. Although an svt40 is hardly a 69 camaro, when u come in the forum asking about painting a svt40 in black, these guys are just giving out their opinions

This wohle "ruining the vaule of your gun" deal...do most people buy a guy to say I have X amount of guns worth X amount of money? Value of the gun is TO the shooter...so it it looks better to him painted then the vaule of the gun to HIM (the onyl person it should matter to) is increased. Unless your planning on buyign guns with the intend to sell them later on...who cares?

How the #### is adding some paint bubbing the gun? Is shooting non-surplus ammo okay with you guys too? Adding optics that are not from the 40's cool? If you add quailty paint to the gun you will be protecting the gun better then it can protect itself in its stock from...most people I know are not dumb enough to think a $4.00 can of spray paint is what to use on a gun.

Coating a guns metal bits in something that actually lasts is hardly "bubba-ing", to suggest so is ludicrous. I stand by my statement on the fuddliness of this forum.

I don't think you know what "fudd" truly means.

Of course it's his gun, and he can do what he wants with it. It's a free country, apparently. So we are just as free to call him stupid for doing it.

I think I'm going to go and buy a Model T and give it a good coat of Krylon... Come to think of it, my 55 Chevy could use a layer or two of duracoat.

It's his rifle and he can paint it, sand it, whatever. He should not however be surprised that people in a forum dedicated to preserving military rifles don't agree with altering historical artifacts.

Now, I'm off to the hunting forum to explain to everyone why they should only shoot animals with a camera.

Buncha fudds...

i excepted like 2 replies lol but okay. well it will get painted. a value of a svt40 or sks is garbage lol its a 200-300$ gun that was made in the millions. why do you think its so cheap? if this was a rare gun im sure it wouldnt be called a cheap shooter. they were nice enough to even give us some corrosive cheap ammo :)

THANK YOU.

ps. tapco stocks look like garbage IMO. Ill post pictures once its all done up!
