SVT-40 Ear Buster

Nice little doe! How far did she get before she dropped?

30 or 40 feet. Not even a wiggle after she went down. I knew where she was cuz 2 smaller does went and stood over her. It was an easy find, the brush got a lot heavier 20 yards away.

For a rifle with iron sights, it shoots well and the bullets are surprisingly good performers. You get a few funny looks from some of the other hunters, but anyone can shoot with a modern day rifle and scope.

You are definitely the man...I get a lot of dirty looks when I shoot my SVT off at the range. A few times me and my buddy each brought ours out, and after about half an hour we had the place to ourselves. I am in the process of scout scoping my Tula 91/30 ex sniper for deer hunting this October. It takes a lot of balls to carry a cumbersome Milsurp out into the field, I can't wait!

When I was in the infantry, I carried a C9 light machine gun, it wasn't very light. If you're gonna hump around in the bush, you might as well carry what you want to shoot. I picked up my Mosin 91/30 today from the gunsmith. It will be with me on my next hunt, I just have to get a few more rounds through it to see that its shooting the way I like it to be.

Unless tolerances have changed, a .002" interference fit is NOT a slip fit even with grease. It is a HEAVY press fit or shrink fit. You could machine a slip on sleeve with slots cut at the one end and tighten it with a gear clamp.
