The EE and show prices seem to be a little coo-coo bananas lately. Care to chime in as to what the fair market value of a refubed SVT-40 is lately?

How about a repro pre '42 sniper with date matching scope (a la Corwin Arms claw mount?)

Or an AVT stock?

Or a Marine stock?

Podolsk w rails/no rails?

Horika?

2 sold at the Kamloops show last month that I know of.
One went for $215 early on the first day. Lots of stock repairs but a steal of a deal none the less. Later that day one with rails went for $425.
Those were the only ones I saw at the show.

That being said current retail price for any available SVT seems north of $600 and sell. Lever has some less common ones left.

Last time I saw real SVT snipers for sale at retail they were $795 iirc without a mount or scope and that was about two years ago. At least $1000 or more for one now I suppose.

I have not really kept my eye on them in the EE

The main tap has run dry for these in Canada...only goin up from here unless we get new stock available from overseas's " crosses fingers " however i like to fondle my Corwin arms select no stock repair 41 izzy every chance i get....im glad i got it for 350$

They seem to be going for $600+ on EE these days in decent to better condition for a Tula with a slight premium going to Izvesk made SVT's. Podolsk's of course command a premium. Still I expect these to be over $1000 by the end of the year unless 1)the liberals get liberal with their ban hammer, 2)new supplies are sourced and arrive on mass from oversea's of both rifles and ammunition. 3)Call of Duty will be back out in November (may attract some of the younger crowd)

Personally I began looking into this rifle after hearing one was given as a gift to Saddam Hussein at some point in the late 80's by the then Russian leader (Gorbechev?sp). Thought then wow that looks bad as* then I realized I could own one too. These rifles have fantastic history, not today but some day down the road I believe they willl match Garand's for price

I can strip and clean mine in half the time of the Garand. It shoots crap ammo very nicely, and cycles like a queen - occasionally temperamental, but usually very dignified.

I think the prices reflect that we are realizing what an awesome rifle this is. The Russians knew it for years. They were well-barrelled, well-built and many of them survived service admirably. That said, I don't think I'll ever sell mine no matter how high the price gets. What's the point? I'd just have to buy another one anyway.

As usual, fair market value is just what people will pay. And I don't think we've seen the end for the upward swing on them yet. I'd agree with above; if new supply isn't opened up, we'll wind up buying 'em for $1000+. Just like the Dragunov in the States.

Reading this, I'm banging my head on the desk in frustration for only buying 1 when they were $200 at Lever Arms...

Tradex was just selling them for $675 I think, Tula and Izzy's. You can get a Podolsk at Leverarms for $700+ shipping. I got one in January, also a January 1941. At the time Leverarms was also selling the Tula's and Izzy's for $400. There's a place in Saskatchewan selling Tula's and Izzy's for $875. Given the huge markup in the last year I would say $600-700 for a run of the mill Tula or Izhevk. Podolsk's are in they're own class though. I have a feeling the odd one will be going for $1200-1500 in the next year after Leverarms sell out. If the Podolsk has historical significance like the missing scope mount groves or the straight cut rear of the receiver, I can see going for way more because of significance and evacuation of Podolsk in October of 1941. I have such a one that I have declined a $2000 offer. In my opinion, I would grab anything you can at this point because there is nothing out there. And if possible, pick it out yourself! Personally I wasn't to happy with the one I got from Leverarms. The grading in my opinion is a joke and I expected a lot more for $700. I kinda wish I would have got another Tula and Izzy for that price. The SVT 40 is my favorite out of the Soviet firearms in Canada but at this point I would rather purchase and unissued SKS. You can still get non-refurbs with all numbers matching instead of missmatched SVT 40's that are selling for way to much.

I got a '41 Tula sniper from Corwin at the Fort Mac gunshow for $500. Still heavily cosmo'd and I haven't bothered to look up serials or anytning.so I cant confirm if its a real one or if the notch was made after production. Also managed to get another '41 tula sniper and a 41 podolsk from a guy a month or so ago for $600 each so I agree with comelunc at around $600-800. Glad i bought 3 from lever when they were 375 ea.

What do they go for with a few stock repairs and a pitted barrel? Have one that I don't use was thinking of selling.
