Yes we are aware of that, our mistake was not putting up specific detailed pictures, however that is now irrelevant as an off shore dealer picked them all up. Thank you for your interest.

Facebook page response in regards to someone mentioning the notch.

It is sad to know that when Marstar makes a rare purchase (sniper SVT-40), they ignore the Canadians that keep them in business in favour of a quick overseas sale. I'll remember it the next time I make a purchase...

ya really not cool, what was the point to bring them over and get everyone's hopes up and then sell them overseas

keep complaining guys.. see how far it got yah duh

Either way, it's pretty sad he'd do either. He either:

a) Tried to sell regular SVT's as snipers, was called on it, and to save face made up a story about selling them while putting them back into the regular SVT inventory
b) Had snipers, couldn't be bothered to answer some simple questions and clear up some inconsistencies, then f--cked over his Canadian clientele which would have surely bought that entire stock within a day at that price.

Sorry, I gotta call BS on the whole thing.

I agree more likely option a..... but a little hint would be matching stamped numbers for a little more ( trigger, reciever and stock)

Offshore dealer? He buys at wholesale to sell at wholesale when he can sell at retail in minutes? Laughable. Just man up and say "the provenance is questionable". Or "the wholesale dealer misrepresented the product". Or "I underpriced my product". Or "I made a mistake". Or "guess what, while you were bellyaching, some customers got great deals!"

DON KAEL;
Reference A) Are you for real ? We have been around for almost 30 years , you think we are that stupid. Give me a break, what planet did you just beam down from ?

YOUR B) We are in the business of selling firearms, put yourself in my place, one of our foreign clients sees that I have some sniper rifles, contacts me, offers me x dollars for the lot, what am I supposed to ? Say no "I might have some people her who might be interested after I reply to their question, not likely, first come first served

You then have the audacity to say I f....ked over my Canadian clientele ? How dare you ....

You sir are without knowledge of the market and know nothing of our business, may I suggest you look into our reputation BEFORE you open your mouth
John

FYRE FIGHTER;
Well another expert (224 posts) who obviously knows more that all here....
What the hell are you talking about, if you had any knowledge of this business you would know that we can sell the more desirable collectables off shore for more than in Canada....
Do you think this is Marstar's first deal ?? We began dealing behind the Iron Curtain in 1984....
It never ceases to amaze me how much expertize is out there.... Why aren't you importing and selling ??
John

I know all about your reputation, John. Now feel free to post up those sniper rifles you had, and I'll be more than glad to retract my statement and offer you a sincere appology.

I am in the business of selling firearms, what would you have me do, a dealer wanted them, made an offer, I accepted it.... Any Canadian dealer could have done the same....
John

I guess my question is why announce that they were sold offshore? Why not just say they are sold out? I believe you added the detail to make it more plausible. I believe that you're being dishonest. The beautiful thing is that whether I am correct or not makes no difference to anybody but me. I decided where to spend my money and rest assured, it will not be with you.

man what a bunch of whiners. unreal

Yes, asking for a simple clarification on a rifle that MAY be advertised incorrectly is unreal, what a bunch of whiners we must be.

John said:
"For every pound of gun of gun we sell, there is a pound of paperwork. There is a pound of paperwork. There is a paper trail that a blind man can follow at night"

Considering how much paperwork it is to import and export, by John's own wording, it makes so much sense that instead of taking one picture of a sniper variant and stating that the rest of the rifles are all to those specs, thereby confirming they are snipers and selling them fairly quickly in the Canadian market, he sells them all to an offshore customer. AFTER he's put the effort into listing them and notifying us of sales.

Right.

THE POINT WAS TO SELL THEM
What more can we say
John

i know the point is to sell them, but i think you should of aloud the Canadian market a stab at them before selling them off shore, its hard to find a svt 40 sniper and at that price, chances are you would of bin sold out in a week

Wow guys stop attacking John. I can get more money for original Sniper models somewhere else as well 1500-3000 dollars. His export permit requires him to bring it here first and then he can fill out any export permit and ship it anywhere overseas or to movie set in California. Would you guys pay that much for those. Probably not.
Anyway if those have rails you can make them into sniper varient. This is why the rails are there. Notch can be made by any gunsmith.

Why bother posting them at all then? I don't hold any ill feelings towards John at all, and I'll most likely continue doing business with Marstar. I just find this whole situation funky. John's more then welcome to delete my posts seeing as this is his forum.

That would be pulling a Mitchells. Nobody other than bubba enthusiasts want a modified SVT, they want the real thing.
