Are you saying the Nazi Bird stamp was very recently done, because if it was stamped pre 1945, the pitting would be in the depression lines left in the metal by the nazi stamp.
Yeah, pretty much. How recent is the question.

The square is the refurb marking? Note that it appears to be stamped on over the eagle?
I wish we knew when the refurb mark was stamped on and by whom?
The square is stamped over the bird..........wonder when it was done?

But the Bird is Fake.
So what.
......it means the rifle is not a nazi capture but a forgery.......
I dont care.......shoots fine.
Being fine with a forgery because you don't collect is akin to a fudd not caring if handguns are banned because you only hunt with a 30-06.
Whatever.
Wow, ..........{removed}............

If all you wanted was a shooter, why did you pay a premium for a nazi marked piece??
You could have had a nice regular SVT for hundreds less.

I wonder if AgentCQ will post the Third and Fourth SVT-40?
We haven't seen him for a while. Maybe he Flew the Coop?
Thats the point, I did not pay a premium....This thread has ruffled a few feathers!

If indeed you just paid the regular SVT price...that's good, for as long as you wish to own the rifle. But, when you go to sell it, you have to do full disclosure and it may well make it harder to sell it than if the controversy wasn't attached to it.
If you are planning to keep it anyway and don't care about this issue....then enjoy your rifle!
