After this thread or mine at k98k, agentcq offered a price reduction or offered to take them back. Obviously he lowered his price. But a $50 premium is still a premium for a rifle imho worth less then an standard refurb.

Actually he was asking $600 for mine but accepted an offer of way less BEFORE the fake threads poked their heads. Now, the only other 40 izhevsk for sale is at P&S for $400+ship$40+tax60=$500. As for selling it, not going to happen but I may feel less guilty for putting a repro scope & mount on it.

Humped rifles deserve to go to the smelter. Strip them of their good parts
And do away with the receiver.

Humped rifles have a bad habit of coming back. In a couple years someone else will be on here asking about their nazi svt.....

I feel asleep trying to read 28 pages, so I forgot what the argument was ... :D

Anyway, obviously the Germans used SVT's as part of their own weaponry. Google is full of diaries, pics and references that supports that. If the issue is trying to decide whether the pics here represent a faked rifle or not, that's another story. In doing a little research, I never knew that the Wehrmacht gave the SVT their own official designation SIG.259(r).

These beasts so marked seem to garner a premium when sold by dealers, even when deactivated....

Deactivated Rare WWII Nazi Marked Tokarev SVT 40 Rifle. Dated 1941 with matching numbers. Many SVT 40's were captured during WWII by the German's and used against the Russian's. This was the Russian's first semi-automatic rifle and was originally designed in 1938. Deactivated to new specifications.

The SVT-40 (Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva) the Tokarev Self-loading Rifle, Model of 1940. It was a gas operated weapon that was an improved version of the SVT-38, used in the Winter War with Finland. It was in widespreaad use by the time of the German invasion of Russia in 1941 and was respected and often used by the German forces to such a large extent that the Wehrmacht gave the rifle their own official designation SIG.259(r). Whilst the majority of Soviet soldiers would use the more basic ppsh-41 the SVT-40 was used with much sucess by the elite well trained Soviet Sea Infantry. This excellent example is in excellent condtion and is 1940 dated with a German Waffenamt stamp. The blue and the woodwork are in very good condition and it is supplied with a mount and rare original 1942 dated sniper scope, with the Hammer and Sickle emblem. It is deactivated to current specifications, but with fully moving trigger and cocking handle.

You can actually see the thicker profile of the unsanded stocks in the pics. Wonder what they did with their k98's while carrying a svt? WaA 497? More humpage? Looking at the action pic on the top one, it has the same matt metal finish as mine does.
