Looks like a fun hunt! Nice to go to the same spot year after year and develop memories.
Your charger should still have plenty of umph even if you ran 1km of wire. I'd back the perimeter off of your camp to reduce the attraction being just feet away from the deterrent. This will greatly increase its effectiveness. Keeping tall grass from touching with wires helps too.
