Swedish Mauser book - Crown Jewels - New Publication

Damned inexpensive for quality research materials. Hope the supply holds out until the new year. Christmas is eating my wallet alive this year, but I've wanted a copy of this for a very long time.

Don't reckon that's correct, mate. This from Amazon.ca (where, BTW, they want $182 for the thing):

Product Dimensions: 28.2 x 20.6 x 2.6 cm

That'd be 11-ish inches by 8-ish by an even inch thick. I think that's about what the first edition sized out at.

Wow - so I have a rare First Edition! I never thought a book I bought would increase in value. How many were printed?

First edition of a technical book is of questionable value when a new revised edition corrects mistakes or adds new material.

I wonder if you are actually looking at a copy of the original? They have come down significantly in price. The Amazon ad I'm referring to, has it listed specifially as second edition, for 69.99 usd. Its not available on Amazon Canada. The ad is unclear but it does say 25% of the size of the first edition. I don't think it is accurate, I think maybe they mean the print is 25% smaller?

I don't believe I'm allowed to post the link.

Yes I think my bill was around 110$. Nothing wrong with that. The price wont go down.

Yeah, read it and then wait a year or two after it is out of print again and sell on ebay for at least double what you paid for it!

They are only doing limited runs and will sell out quick again.

Mine is in the mail right now. Told the wife that it would be the perfect Christmas gift. I only have 2 M38's but have shot the AG-42 and would like to find a nice M96 some day.

Good thinking. A couple of years ago my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas and I frustrated her again by asking for black socks and a bag of licorice allsorts. Then the penny dropped; I'd been planning to buy Bruce Canfield's big fat Garand book for around $100 and voila, Christmas shopping over.

I found this thread ages ago, forgot about it and then re-discovered it this morning. My copy is on order. Thanks for keeping this thread alive and thanks for the initial heads-up mkrnel!

Your welcome, just trying to help out CGN members and Swedish mil-surp collectors in general.

To be really useful I do think it needs to be paired up with the affordable paperback: The Swedish Mauser Rifles (For Collectors Only) by Kehaya and Poyer, North Cape Publications, in order to provide a more definitive study of the Swede. There is plenty wrong (and right) with both books, but they complement each other.
