Swiss Arms addicts sound off

One question I have - can I take a Classic Green to the US? :) That would make me even more of an addict. If not, I am going to buy an AR to take down there as I usually spend 1-4 months in the US escaping the friggin' Vancouver rain.

No, with the new U.S. regs, you're not going to enter the US with a gun, even less if it's an AR.

The swiss arms is a prohib in the states. The only way around that is if your agency issues them and you are going down on business.

Insofar as not taking guns to the states....news to me. My Form 6 lists multiple guns and types of ammo and a friend just took his AR and Glock across the border on Saturday....are you saying that no more permits will be issued when our current ones expire?

I have the hunting license, range invitation and am now working on the BATF form :)

I guess I will try to figure out what AR type rifle to buy that can come down the US with me. Maybe a Robinson XCR.

The standard Swiss Arms "Classic Green" or "Black Special", etc...are extremely accurate service rifles. When put up against any standard Colt 6920 or 6921, HK G-36, or similar civilian/service rifles shooting comparable ammo, the Swiss Arms will invariably prove the more accurate rifle.

I think this is a common misconception. I have several Colt ARs that out perform my Black Special. Is it very close? Sure, I'd even go so far as to say they are as accurate as ARs, but definately not moreso....

Keep telling yourself that your $3000 rifle must be better than a $1500 AR and one day it may come true.

In my experience, I have found my Swiss accurate. Are they the last word in accuracy? Obviously not. I think the real strong suit of the Swiss is not accuracy, but rather extreme reliability in a semi-auto (or select-fire I suppose, never tried one) package that is still really quite accurate. That is the key right there. A superbly reliable semi that is also accurate.

Shooting other guns, sometimes you get the feeling that they may not function properly - and sometimes they do fail (to fire, eject, chamber, cycle, etc.), but in shooting a Swiss Arms, I never get that feeling. Probably because I have never experienced even a hint of a malfunction with it. This seems to be everyone else's experience as well. Anyone on here ever had failures with a PE90?

Here is my current favorite photo of my Swiss Arms (and yes, vz58 is a good rifle as well... different universe on reliability... but good none the less):

With an AR, it is impossible to have an unloaded rifle with the safety on.

You will never be able to disengage the safety, pull the trigger with a dead-man click......unless it is a stoppage.

Ahhh you ruined it GT ..I wanted to see the reaction we would have gotten ;):D:D

Heavily customized ???

cjs - "Yes, that is an apples to orange comparison. Your AR is not a stock rifle but has been heavily customized. Great looking AR though. "

Yeah I can see how the adj. butt and rubber grip REALLY make it shoot better !!!

Stock top end , stock bottom end push the pins in and your ready to feed it.

Again, Swiss, HK, nice rifles, bonus of non res. catagory , but they just don't do want I needed. I kinda liked em but I've got what I need.

And to the fellow that said no comparison to factory common lengh accuracy, my buddy just picked up an OLD Colt SP 1, it shoots better off a bag than the HK or SIG that i had did.
Probably cause of the really crappy triggers on the other two.

But the others looked cool, Jr. called the HK my Halo gun.

So your AR comes with a chromed heavier looking barrel stock? Did it come from one vendor out of the box like that? If so, what kind and where do I get one? :)

It looked like something you had thoughtfully and carefully assembled. I stand corrected, you just have a couple of items added that are minor.

I am not going to do the roll eyes thing back to you because I am attempting to have an actual conversation with you.

My Deagle chambered in .50 BMG shoots better than your buddie's SP1. My unsubstantiated claims are better than your claims, and likewise, have no chance of being verified. You're comparing an AR with a 26" SS barrel thicker than my arm to a rack-grade miltary rifle...

Also, re-read the title and purpose of this thread. Idiot.

Koalorka
1) I'm not your IDIOT.
2) My 50 BMG shoots better than my buddy's SP! (just more expensive to feed)
3) I posted that I OWNED the sig....... title and purpose right. "Owners sound off."
If you didn't want good AND bad posts, it should have read "only the people who like sigs or have good news post here"

4) And I'm not comparing these, there IS no comparison. Non rest. battle rifle to a Restricted Varmint hunting model. Of course the AR is better.

I had stated that I had owned the Sig, owned the HK and sold em because I wasn't happy with the accuracy, I'd also mentioned that i'd liked them.

Maybe you should do some re reading, u @ss.

"title and purpose right. "Owners sound off.""

see addicts sound off.

You bought and sold one...doesn't sound like an addict to me. Not like I care but if you are going to argue and come across all self righteous/holier than thou, try to at least be right. I love these arguments, it's like two kids arguing over whose hatchback is faster than the others, just be happy who can have one guys and you actually have choice.
