Swiss Arms Classic green

Several things are wrong with this... Firstly, the Sig 556 is prohib, so the entire post is moot. Second, a Lower parts kit is around $500, so add the upper, stock and lower, you're well over $2000... and that's figuring with an $1100 U.S. made upper that might not even work properly on the lower, and won't ever be available up here anyway. At the end of the day, you'd have spent over $2000 for something that is inferior to what you can get here.

But again, the Sig 556 is prohibited, so there is no way your idea would ever be viable.

By your logic, the Classic Greens would never have made it in the country because they're based on the semi sig 550 (a prohib rifle in Canada). As you should know, the Classic green lowers were different enough NOT to be classed as the semi sig 550 variant, hence we have them available here.

If someone wants to look into building or bringing in a sig 556 type rifle the same way (by using a non-prohib lower like NEA one, let them! It wasn't long ago when people said we'd never have a canadian AR.

As far as this rifle quality goes, maybe some people just want to be able to get one for the sake of having one as part of a collection or gentle range use. Its not our business to judge them. Besides, I don't think anyone would buy anyway unless the rifles are warrenty supported anyways.

The Swiss Arms rifles are not based on the 550, but on the earlier 540. Since the 540 came first, its impossible to be a variant of the 550.

Also, the Upper receiver of the Swiss arms is the registered firearm, not the lower. That's why you can switch out the lower for the NEA one, the lower is just a part. I would imagine its the same for the 550 and the 556.

1. The 556 is prohib, the Classic Green is not. RCMP's logic, not mine.
2. The upper is the registered part, not the lower.
3. No judging here, just trying to explain that there is a reason for the American made one being cheaper.

That's right!....I had forgotten all about that, as generally the lowers are considered the firearm.

So, because of the previously described inconsistant logic of the rcmp, we can import a Swiss Arms upper and slip it on a nea lower. But can't do that with the 556 upper. You know, other than country of origin/manufacture marks (if present), I doubt anyone in Customs could tell the difference. Unbeleivable.

You can buy a North Eastern Arms lower for the Swiss Arms. It accepts AR-15 mags. It's great shooting the Swiss with 10 round LAR mags. Here's mine:

Is it still non-restricted?
Can the buttstock still fold? can it still use the original swiss one?

There are very few pre ban Swiss Made PE90 rifles that exist in the US , when you do see one on Gun Broker they sell between $10000 - $15000 !! When i show pics of my Swiss Arms and Tavor to my fellow collectors down south they get mad at me for awhile lol well we do have some things better here ..

it does not have the same QC, look at the test they put the swiss rifles through. no sig arms (usa) rifle pass those kinds of tests.

Yes SIG of Switzerland and Sig Sauer USA are totally different companies .. I have handled one of those US made knock offs and trust me they are not very good .. its like comparing a Hyundai to a Mercedes ..
