Hey guys

Just got a swiss arms black special carbine and was wondering what optic/red dot is best auited for it.
What are you guys running on them??

I was think either a Elcan Spectre 1-4x or an aimpoint micro or M4s.

I want to go the elcan route but think it might sit high up and create zero cheek weld with it, or will not sit over thw rear iron sight.

Opinions please guys but not really looking for a big mafnification scope.

Pics with your setups would be perfect!!!!!

Thanks

B

An Aimpoint Micro will give a lower 1/3 co-witness using the B&T top rail.

Other than that, if you are putting a magnified optic on it, you'll likely need a cheek riser.

I had two optics I used on my SA Carbine...

Good setup, but could use a cheekpiece.

Also, you can see the other two setups I've tried

TR24G in an ADM Recon mount... probably my favorite of all setups tried. Definately needs a cheekpiece though... the Airsoft ones weren't available when I had this, and couldn't bring myself to pay $200 for the plastic REAL one. :)

If you get the low low top rail, you can get absolute co-witness with this setup..

That scope I'm using is a Vortex Razor HD Gen II. So its a 1-6X with a slick reticle designed by Jerry Miculek (came with a happy-old-man-note in the box!) The glass is very bright, and the red dot in the center is "daylight bright."

I like that it has low profile caps and that you can lock the illumination turret. Plus every second click is off for the glow, which means you don't have to dial from top to bottom.

It's actually a little wider than 1x at its lowest setting. More like a 0.9X magnification, which makes it sit very naturally. The phrase I kept seeing on Sniper's Hide while I was waiting for it to come in was "extremely generous eyebox"

The only thing I'm waiting on before its perfect is a throw lever like I used to use on my Viper PSTs

I have a Elcan Spectre DR 1 x4 on my Swiss Arms Green Carbine and a Elcan Spectre DR 1.5x6 on the Swiss Arms Rifle. There is room for the optics to clear the rear sight and I have the rear of the sight in line with the rear of the diopter sight. Works fine on both firearms and I have had no problems with zero after removing and re-attaching multiple times. rigrat

Do you need a cheek rest to use it?
Are u using the low profile mount or jus the standard one?

Sounds like you're pretty set on a Specter, but I'll throw in a shameless plug for the TA11 on a SIG mount anyways. Gives you more options:D I like this setup because its clean and narrow with nothing sticking out. It also comes completely off the receiver in 2 seconds when I want to play with irons and returns to zero perfectly.

Actually i would consider the ACOG.
It seems like it sits a little high tho if i wasnt going to use the cheek piece.

Yes that's the problem with all diopter SA rifles regardless of optic, I can use it without the cheek piece but after about 30 rounds the jaw gets sore, Perfect alignment with cheeckpiece. Center line of optic will not be any lower with the Elcan, it just looks like it because it has a larger tube. Either setup can be fired with or without the cheek piece, its just more functional with one.
