I believe they got the full retail price for the t97's.
Far fewer 97's made it into hands than Swiss rifles that have been available for over a decade.

Hated for over a decade & the past 18 months of review and nothing's happened. I think that speaks to the legitimacy of the non-restricted & restricted status of the rifles. It seems they're stuck & they're looking to demonize & rationalize an OIC - not just for Swiss Arms, but for other rifles as well. Strangeday warned us long ago of this impending doom. We all need to go hard and put pressure on the CPC & sue to delay/prevent it for as long as possible. I'll hold on to mine until the bitter end. They're great rifles.
IIRC, someone estimated there to be a thousand Swiss Arms rifles in Canada. At today's retail prices, that's at least $4 million and another 4 million to track, collect & destroy them. Every Swiss Arms owner should take the RCMP to court just to add to the cost. RCMP either f'd up, is scamming or a bit of both.
The Pandora Box has already been opened with the previous re-classification T97A, BD-38, AP-80... and all hell didn't break loose. Owner surrendered their possession, and went back to their daily lives...It would appear this is bad for all the parties involved including the RCMP themselves. Think about it - “Yes, as it turns out, for the past 12 years we have classified a prohibited firearm as non-restricted and allowed it to be imported and sold as such with out properly verifying it in the first place. Yes, we are solely responsible for this. Yes, we are looking at confiscating legally acquired property.”
It would appear to me Pandora’s Box has been opened and no one would be happy if that is the case. It is the sort of thing that could cause politicians and law markers to take notice…

Wrong - 3 reasons.
3. Receivers were at one time select fire capable and then modified for semi auto only, as in the Type 97 and FSN series. I believe it is alleged this is the case with the Swiss Arms rifles.
Try billions. How the hell is the gov going to track down what doesnt exist. If every swiss owner made things just a tad bit more difficult they might just make the process so expensive the gov dumps it.
Would you blame the guy who called the cops, or the people who broke into the house in the first place? So JR is responsible for this mess?
