Swiss arms / SAN rifles FAQ

Well I went ahead with my plan to modify my charging handle. I used the dremel with a cut off wheel and cut a slot into the underside next to the rubber thing then bent it down so it sits about 90 degrees to the receiver and welded it up. Then filed the welds down so it looks nice and gave it some cold blue. Turned out really well and once I train myself to do the reach under to charge I think it will be perfect.
The welding melted the rubber thing a little but it's still fine.
I'll get a picture or two later and post it up here.
Thanks for the tip with operating the charging handle with the left hand, makes sense.

To answer the questions asked earlier about how can norinco and other cheap ammo like MFS ruin your barrel this was posted in another thread and is a great article documenting why you shouldn't use crap ammo that has bi-metal bullet jacketing.
It's a long read but worth it. If you still want to run the cheap stuff after this then at least you won't be surprised when your barrel is junk after 6000-8000 rounds when you should get 30000 or more.

Point forward I will be asking sellers if they have run any of the various types of ammo with steel cases and bi-metal jackets and if so won't be buying that rifle.

Excellent read. I'm glad I purchased my Classic directly from CSC and that it had been freshly refurbished by SAN.

Fingers crossed. Once all this blows over I'll finally spend a little money for some accessories to truly enjoy my Classic.
