Swiss arms / SAN rifles FAQ

You know the SAN copy cheek rest that CanAm sells? Well it weights a ton compared to the original SAN and doesn't quite fit as nicely. But for 40$ or so to the door, it isn't too bad.

This is not a SIG 550. It is a newly designed rifle based off the SIG 540 that isn't prohibited. It just happens to use many of the parts the 550 does to save on manufacturing costs.

OK?

Because it can be done, so I've heard from Stefan but it is hard to cut.

As the saying goes, your stuff, your decision. As already mentioned, cutting, crowning, threading can be done. But the question remains, for what purpose? There are other barrel lengths available. The gas system/function is affected by the length of the barrel.

You could cut the receiver in half too, but what purpose would that serve (and not trying to be fasetious).

Has anyone compared the B&T picatinny rail & Kyle Precision one..?

The fact is, they look like they're made of different metals, one is lighter than the other.

I think my friend has the B&T, there is no markings on the rail that are visible - but mine is the KPA and it's taller and has some light showing under the rail itself

I believe you cannot adjust the trigger or stock, but you can get a replacement spring set to lighten the trigger up a bit.... also they're is a an adjustable folding stock available in green or black for like 400 dollars out of europe (wolverine could probably bring one in for you) or u could get an ar15 stock adaptor if your not a purest.

I have bought the B&T picatinny rail for my CQB but I am not able to match the hole of the lower rail to that of the lower thus I cannot close the fastening bolt. It looks like the lower rail is a few mm too long. Do you guys encounter this sort of problem. Please help.

Try fitting the bolt part of the rail inside the front holed part of the diopter, took me a few minutes as well but once it is the diopter, you can slide the rail onto the guide.

Does anyone have the exploded view for the SG551 and especially the SG551LB?
The first link isn't accurate with its description.
