Swiss arms / SAN rifles FAQ

The new catalog is online, while it's only in german available it may still be interesting for some of you

It was a suprise to see the nemesis on the first few pages! Er. 511 rather... great name SAN... You think they could spell precision rifle right if they are going about making one.

How do you exchange the extractor on these rifles?

The extractor is held in place by a special pin which is kind of secured.

What kind of tool do you need for loosening and afterwards securing the pin which holds the extractor in place?

Quick run down. What I put in bold (basiert auf
der legendären Sturmgewehrfamilie SIG 55X) is, auf Englisch:

<based on the legendary assault rifle family SIG 55X>

Now, what I wrote after that is the prohibition OIC. It will all boil down to whether they consider the SAPR a variant of the SG55X series. Since the RCMP seems to base its variant decisions (when convenient, of course) on marketing literature, I don't hold much hope for this rifle after seeing that.

Now if they said it was based on the 540 series, I'd be saving my pennies. But they didn't. They shot themselves in the foot.

Now, I'm not a lawyer but based on the governments way of thinking this could be some interesting info! The SG 550 was originally called the SG 541. It was a prototype based off of the SG 540 and later renamed SG 550 or Stgw 90! So that means that both the SG 55x and SG 75x series of firearms are actually variants of the "legal" SG 54x series!!! I'd love to take that to court...just need to win the lottery first!!!

Thinking of getting the Swiss Arms 550 Black Special, i'm a lefty. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about it. Basically is it worth every penny? or is it crap?

I own a Black Special and a Classic Green. Nothing else in the non-restricted department comes close. They are definately worth the $.

Is there any difference between the Black Special and the Classic Green, aside from the colour?

No difference between the two besides color.

There are 1:10 and 1:7 barrels available.

There is a flat top version (no diopters) of the Black Special called the Black Special Target.

Anyone have an idea what kind of mag pouches will fit Swiss Arms mags?

I've been using these:

They seem to work well, and are of decent quality. 2 Mag's fit with no problem, just sometimes the coupling studs on the mag get hung up on the strings that hold the mag in, but other than that I'm Satisfied.

Adidas sniper jackets work well.
Each pocket holds 2 5/20 mags clipped together.
Various colors available at SportChek;)

Are we starting a Croatian gangster shooting club?

Hahaha! that's exactly what my 2 friends said I looked like when we went out shooting together and I showed up wearing that jacket. Both of them served in Bosnia. Too funny.
