10mm rail

Yah,

I am curious about the 10 mm rail too. How much would it cost to add another one if you buy some?

thanks

I'm doing up an order from Wolverine today. I'll let Wolfgang know about this particular part and that there may be others calling in for them.

I would also love a rail that is flush with the B&T rail but damn that is pricey and a lot of the rail is wasted.

If you require it to be flush then you should consider a target model instead. The integrated top rail is perfectly flush with the B&T quad rail.

Is there a 14.3" target model? When I get a full size one it will likely be a Black Special Target for that reason.

There is a target model 14.3. but I have never seen it in Canada (just in the SAN catalogue). There are some target carbines with the slightly longer barrel. They are very few around, and they seem to command a premium price. You could get a 14.3 and a black special target, and have the barrels swapped...... I was planning to do that, but then decided I didn't want to risk $6000 worth of hardware, in the event that something went wrong.

It would probably be cheaper just to get the 10mm rail. :p Plus then I wouldn't have a flat top for the full length rifle. Once I get the B&T rail, Aimpoint and 3x I'll figure out a way to make it work, hopefully without having to spend ~$300 on another rail. :D

Why do you guys care if the rails from receiver to handguard are flush?

1) I want to mount a 3x magnifier behind my an Aimpoint H1/T1 this might be a problem if the rail is too high.

2) It just looks better

I don't think you are going to get the dot to hold zero if you put it out on the hand guard.

This is 552 with 8.9" barrel.

This is its equivalent 556 StGw 556 Kurz:

This is P556 (pistol):

There is no perceptible movement of the B&T quad rail so I see little reason to suspect that the sight will not hold zero.

As with the new mounts for the Vz58 though, it will be nice to see the proof in the pudding so to speak.

Work is kept me from hitting the range to verify this last weekend, but by this next weekend I should have tested and verified whether it holds.

It is certainly possible that it will not.

I hate when people put words in other peoples mouths, so I will resist doing the same here.

But what I think Beltfed is saying is that there is likely strong design reasons why Troy and others made a two piece quad rail assembly designed to attach to the top of the receiver. There are a number of stress/torsion forces on the gun during operation, and having the upper rail effectively split in two does propose potential mechanical difficulties; particularly if you are considering a multiple optic combination.

That said, zero on the quad rail needs to be tested or the whole discussion is semantics.

On the other side of the equation, even if the very best I can achieve is by adding the 10mm receiver rail is to actually co-witness my T1 Micro with the irons it will put me a long way long way ahead of the 16mm mount solution IMHO.

The current B&T 16mm mounts do NOT provide lower 1/3 co witness for an T1 micro while the quad rail does.

Exactly why I would like a 10mm rail mount.

With a SAN CQB does a B+T top rail allow co-witness with an Aimpoint Micro H1?

I just ordered a SAN CQB, and bought an H1 the other day ... still need a rail though. B+T Quad rail might be a bit much for my needs, I want to buy new ski gear this year anyways :)
