I just got one and the stock is cut down, but the barrel is still full length. Is there anywhere I can find an original stock for it?

Please read the caution note in the article about what ammunition to use with the Model 1889 Schmidt Rubin Infantry Rifle. It's not built for modern 7.5 ...

Thanks, I just read it. Not the end of the world if I can't shoot it I guess, I have other guns lol. I think its an interesting design for a military gun thats the main reason I wanted it, reminds me of the T-Bolt.

You can shoot it. I found the correct original ammunition at a local gun show, so check those tables out. The one in the MKL article is Serial # 192 and it was originally manufactured in 1891. Beautiful piece and I imported it from Switzerland.

Enjoy yours and see if you can find the parts to rebuild her..

Lot of these around. I've got one as well. Must be really high quality steel. Hardly any corrosion after all this time. No source in North America?
