I know a while back spear hunting use to be a thing until CBC got ahold of it. But what about sword hunting. People in the olden days use to do that. Why isn't that still a thing with the purists? I would feel confident if given enough time too place my tree stand correctly.

Has anyone heard of this?

I think you might get the sword of the buck in ya....!
Any idea just how strong a mature buck really is....and the years of practice he has using 'his swords'....
I'll pass on that adventure...!

I dunno, I paid more for the "Battle ready" sword. Its sharp enough to irl fruit ninja and has been smashed off a bunch of things and has held up perfectly.

what if you take a bunch of tiny sword blades, attach them to the end of small stick, then use a string attached to two ends of another stick to send that 1st stick with the tiny sword blades flying at great speed to the animal you want to kill.

almost the same... right?

Boar swords were relatively common in the late Medieval period.

This is what I am talking about. I have gotten close enough to deer to point blank them with my rifle. There is no reason I couldn't get one with that.

I agree with the sportsmanship and equity side of your inquiry. The fact that point blank I blew a buck's heart out, he still managed 25 yards. I don't like your odds unless you are party hunting or have a sufficient pack of dogs.
Boar is a driven hunt. In the middle ages, it was practiced with mounted men, foot men and dogs. Yet still, people died or were horribly maimed. Then there's bears.....

you could put a pop up blind in the middle of a huge apple pile. (people are allowed to hunt over apples here). Then when the correct deer is eating past you. Just go through the side of the blind. Its only thin fabric. They are cheap enough to be disposable. What would be wrong with that? Very primitive way of hunting. You would think it would be ok.

Go for it ,use the hide in a blind surrounded with apples method, and have lots of cameras filming you from multiple angles, and as Hoyt says post it on U tube with your contact info, Iam sure you will recieve lots of positive feedback. Remember to thrust deep into the vitals as just chopping of one leg would be considered just a flesh wound.

Maybe start with a small doe and don't forget to give her a cute name like "Cecelia"... but maybe step one is to buy a house with woodstove heating on the outskirts of Whitehorse under a pseudonym.
