I had a versamax that felt really nice in my hands and really tamed recoil. Unfortunately I wasn't hitting anything so I patterned it and it was shooting about 6" low at 20 yards. Yikes. Also, the thing basically started to fall apart. The forearm was always loose, the trigger was sloppy, the mid bead fell off, and there was some side play in the hammer. Basically I took the thing back to wholesale and they took it back to questions asked (apparently they've had a lot of them coming back). A few days later I bought a Benelli M2. They are two different machines (obviously). The Benelli is light, quick, and feels incredibly sturdy in my hands. It's actually so light and so snappy on the draw I was concerned I had accidentally picked up the 20 gauge for a couple seconds! Since it is so light I was concerned about the recoil but the stock really tames it thankfully. In the end I know guys who have had a flawless Versamax fire thousands of different rounds with 0 problems. I however got a "lemon" and will not be looking back. If you do decide to buy a Versamax assemble it in the store. Take it apart, make sure nothing is loose or wobbly. That's really all you can do!
Good luck and hopefully what happened to me doesn't happen to you!
