T 81 LMG Just pics and no bull

PURISTS BEWARE Please keep your comments to yourself if you want to crap on me for re-Finishing the LMG.

Now my 2 T81's look like sisters again, not distant cousins!!!
The color of the pieces do look the same in person - camera changes the color depth...

That oily Chu wood is tricky to stain...

Looks really good man!!!! Ya a step by step wouldbe nice. My sets don't match 100% either. Would love to do this up too

When I buy a blued one I will send the stock set off to you:d
I would like to do this eventually
Took mine out for the first time today and shot maybe 100 rounds. Thing ran like a tank no hiccups at all. Really impressed with it so far.

Thanks for the compliments.
It is too late for a Video step x step...

VERY easy to do:
Disassemble.
Mask any metal with painters tape.
Strip with Circa 1850 gel stripper, took 2 rounds scrubbing with a bristle brush.
Remove Painters tape.
Wash wood with soap and water.
Let dry.
Tape metal again.
Sand with 220 to knock down the raised grain.
Wipe off with a cloth.
Rag on Stain, I used Minwax Dark Mahogany. 2 coats.
Sand with 400 to knock down the grain, re-stain if needed.
Varathane 3 or 4 times. I used Varathane Pro Satin water based - Great stuff.
Light sanding between coats with 600 to smooth any imperfections.
Remove Tape and re-assemble.
Throw some Lead down the pipe!

Was the carry handle hard to remove?

Very easy, just drive the pin from muzzle to butt end. To reinstall the pin, just hold the rifle vertical with the head of the pin sitting on a vice or something firm. Use a larger head punch (~1\4") to flare the pin back out to hold...

Would you be able to put up some pics of the furniture disassembled and the different areas it mounts to the rifle?

Curious about making some custom pieces and just trying to get an idea on how it all fits together and if its even feasible to try and make one of these into a dragunov style rifle or maybe fit RPK or AK furniture with some custom mounts.

What for ?

I shouldnt be allowed to own one of these.... the more I look at them, the more I want to hack one up into some sort of AK, PSL clone lol

A Valmet would be a waaay better choice for a PSL clone tho.

Shooting it reminds me of shooting a Bren, I think it's the lack of recoil. I bet it would be very controllable in full auto.
