im just looking for pro hunter barrels i just traded a scope for a pro hunter in 223
i hope to pick up sum other barrels and shotgun barrels as well going to be my away from home hunting rifle/shotgun i have wanted one since i was a kid

Jo Brooks has some 30-06's barrels new in package

thank you 30-06 will take care of the moose and elk just fine
wish i can fine a 308 with a 15" barrel or for hunting elk on Haida Gwaii man is that a ugly hunt even a rifle with a 16" barrel gets hung up all the time
but one thing with the pro hunter is i can hide it away in my pack till i get to where im hunting

If packability is a concern, have you considered a light weight BLR in take down

most hunting here a standard barrel is fine but wen hunting elk on Haida Gwaii the shorter the rifle the better wear talking about thick brush and blow downs and muskeg
the worst of it wen you do get a elk you need to pack it out and it takes days

but last year the elk wear flooded out and it was a road hunt but that the first time that has happen

I have two Prohunters and 3 barrels.

Couldn't stand the feel of the 28" barrels so had a 25-06 shortened to 24" a 30-06 and 375H&H shortened to 22".

I'd like to score a short 16.5" 45-70 barrel.

I could sell you mine but can you get a second mortgage on your house?

I like the way you think Camp Cook how do you like the pro hunter over all

I also had 15" 3006 and recoil jump and noise was quite hi

Get what barrel you can and get it cut to the length you want I find the 20" about the best. I have a 16" hornet and a 20" 223, also a 18.5" 375hh. Cost isn't that much for the cut. I also had a 15" 3006 the muzzle jump and noise was high and didn't like way it handled with the pistol forend

I really like the design but I like the much smaller T/C Contender carbines a lot more have 6 Contender frames and 18 barrels.

For woods hunting those elk up there I would be packing my 14" barreled Contenders in either 375JDJ or 45-70.

What I like about the Prohunter is it can handle higher pressures than the Contenders why I want a short 45-70 Prohunter barrel is so I can shoot my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 525gr & 550gr loads.

Agreed the cost to cut and recrown a barrel is minimal but be careful not to shorten a barrel less than 18.5" that is stupidly against the the law it is legal to buy a manufactured to any length barrel and install it if the overall length of the firearm is/remains over 26" though.

As an example you could purchase a 15" barrel in the States have an importer ship it here and your good to go.

Like a lot of guys I have to travel a lot for work so I never know wear im hunting each year ore with what rifle I need that way im getting the pro hunter plus wen I was a kid learning to trap I would sit in are cabin looking at T/C ads in fur, fish, and game magazine FFG was my wish book wen I started trapping
I wonder how hard it would be to get I RUN GUNS to bring in sum barrels in for me

I just made a deal for a 44mag with 12" barrel hope when I put it on will still be over 26"over all cutting it a bit tight
now I'm wondering what is the heaviest bullet i can get for a 44mag

If I were to cut off the muzzle brake of my Contender Super 14 45-70 barrel I would still be just over 26 1/2" the Prohunter frame is a bit longer = you should be fine.

A little more info for you I spoke with the CFC a few weeks ago in regards to shortening a shorter than 18.5" barrel re cutting the muzzle brake off of my Contender Super 14 45-70 barrel.

Answer is the barrel is already classed as restricted so it can be cut to any length you want in my case just a bit shorter than 12.5"...
