One of the biggest down sides with many entry level scopes is the lack of marking for turret revolution and a zero stop.
Just setting up for Merritt CRPS match and one stage, we will be reaching out to 350m... that is 20mils for my set up. internal/reticle travel, tracking has to be spot on to make adjustments this big and then dial back to close range for the next stage. The amount of travel needed for LR rimfire PRS exceeds anything you will see in typical centerfire PRS.
for 100yd/m matches, it is far more forgiving to the scope specs.
There are certainly some very useable FFP scopes sub $1000. My fave is the Athlon Argos BTR. It covers most everything you need and can offer a rudimentary zero stop.
If you see doing LR PRS a bunch, do consider "more" scope as the lack of travel, markings and zero stop can get frustrating when shooting on the clock.
The Athlon Midas TAC 6-24 is a fantastic full featured entry point... certainly more then your current budget but it has all the specs you will want without breaking the bank.
