Just picked up a couple of Tikka T1x .22lr for the Mrs and I and I was wondering if any folks could recommend a Scope for them. I’d like to use these for rim fire PRS, but also plinking and Varmint duty. I’m looking hard at the Vortex Diamondback Tactical as it seems pretty decent for the money and has a decent Christmas Tree reticule.

Budget is around $500 per scope.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I just got my Vortex Diamondback 4-16X44 for my Ruger 1022. Initial observations are very positive. Turret adjustments are great, reticle looks good as well with the etched MOA scales for elevation and windage. What I like is the side mounted AO that adjusts from 20y to infinity. I hope to try it out at the range within the next week or so. I'll be using it for the Outlaw Precision matches and hope it works ok for that. I'll reserve final judgment until after using it but for now, it looks very impressive for the money.

I have that scope(Diamond back tactical 6-24 FFP) on my T1x and I was a little disappointed, Its my first FFP scope and I really had no idea the retical would shrink down so tiny at 6x, its really hard to see it for off hand shooting and would be useless for hunting. but for off a bi-pod or rest its excellent. Would love to find the same scope in SFP.

One of the biggest down sides with many entry level scopes is the lack of marking for turret revolution and a zero stop.

Just setting up for Merritt CRPS match and one stage, we will be reaching out to 350m... that is 20mils for my set up. internal/reticle travel, tracking has to be spot on to make adjustments this big and then dial back to close range for the next stage. The amount of travel needed for LR rimfire PRS exceeds anything you will see in typical centerfire PRS.

for 100yd/m matches, it is far more forgiving to the scope specs.

There are certainly some very useable FFP scopes sub $1000. My fave is the Athlon Argos BTR. It covers most everything you need and can offer a rudimentary zero stop.

If you see doing LR PRS a bunch, do consider "more" scope as the lack of travel, markings and zero stop can get frustrating when shooting on the clock.

The Athlon Midas TAC 6-24 is a fantastic full featured entry point... certainly more then your current budget but it has all the specs you will want without breaking the bank.

PM or email to discuss

I have 3 of the Diamondback Tactical in 4-16 MOA reticle. They are excellent value at around $500 with features and glass quality usually found on much higher priced scopes. I have just installed one on my T1X and plan to shoot it tomorrow. I will try to post an update after the range trip.

I have the Diamondback tactical 6-24x50 (I have a few of them actually lol) and it’s tough to beat. I have one mounted to my T1x and it makes those 50 and 100m shots a breeze. Outstanding value, tough to beat.

X2 for the Diamondback Tactical 6-24×50 and I went with the FFP for my shooting application. AND you can't beat Vortex VIP warranty. I accidentally crushed the tube on my DB and wrecked the internals. Sent it back to Vortex on the Monday and recieved a BNIB replacement at my door on the Thursday... no questions asked. Now that's CS!

Or if you want alittle my magnification and IR then go with a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25×50... buy once cry once. I mounted this one on my M700 308.

Bulldog284. I would love to post a picture and just as soon as I figure out how to do that I will. I’m kinda new here and still navigating the process.
If you have a good imagination my setup is
T1x 16” barrel
Harris bipod
Area 419 30MOA rail
4-16 Diamond Tactical
Vortex Low Tactical Rings
The low rings still leave about 1/4” clearance if you want to add flip up lens caps

I’ll do some reading on how to post a picture

I've got a Leupold VX Freedom Rimfire on mine and have no complaints. I put the Tikka Optilock on it as well which if I remember correctly cost as much or more than the scope but I am not a smart man. :p
