T2 Garand - Part 1

So just to be clear, these were Terni manufactured complete rifles, stored in Italy for the last 60 years (from 1955) unused, but are mix master parts, and even some Danish overrun receivers were used?
Hauck did no assembly, just inspection, proofed, marked and shipped as they received them?

John has been on the board since this has been posted and has not answered the above post, (which pretty much sums up every question being asked for the sake of clarity). Interesting.

I'll have mine on monday. I'll post pictures and you guys can do your thing. Anything special you wanna see apart from the markings?

$1600 for mismatch colored wood, $1750 for matching color wood.
This was the promo email. Note it says made in the 70's but John says stored for 60 years.

Here is their video, they look seriously overgassed to me when they get to the shooting part. My 30-06 M1's eject brass forward to the 1-2 o-clock position and rather gently too.

Damn, went straight to junk mail. I have to reset that. Although pricey, it's still one of the next rifles I'm looking for. Would prefer a Garand in 762 than an M305. My next savings project and hopefully last, lol. Too many it seems.

It will be interesting to see what these turn out to be and their provenance. Thank you purple, flightRN and others for sharing your information and raising valid questions. I will wait and see what the rifles I ordered look like and if not as advertised, worst case scenario they get sent back.

It would be interesting to see photos or a description of the markings in the following areas;

1. The top of the heel of the receiver behind the rear sight
2. The right side of the barrel
3. The handle portion of the operating rod

Folks should remember that the Tipo 2 rifles were re-manufactured rifles, so they may contain parts from a variety of makers incl Breda, Beretta, Springfield Armory, etc., whereas an original Breda rifle will have parts marked "BMR" or "BMB" and a Beretta rifle will have parts marked "PB". The modified/shortened Tipo 2 operating rods that I used to build mine included rods made by IHC, HRA and Springfield Armory. In addition to being shortened, all of the rods were modified by a bevel cut on the outside surface of the "hump" part that engages the right bolt lug. This cut makes them resemble a WRA made rod in this area. They are also marked, "7.62mm/2" on the handle part.

Can you pull the oprod back and take a pic of the barrel markings?

I checked and I saw no visible markings on the barrel under the oprod after locking it back. There is an MT stamped on the buttstock. I just noticed it.
The rifle is covered in cosmoline and its way too hot for me to clean it today.

I thought it would be good to get this onto a sticky and clean up all the garbage . This would have been a "live" document with info being added changed and deleted as new info was posted
Guess not. I will ask the mods to delete the thread

Well it's got 7.62mm on the arm of the oprod, is that correct at least?

It also looks pretty rusty in the pic?
