I was in at the local store and seen one. Don't care for the color of the stock but sure like how it feels. Does anyone have one in 308 ? Any input is appreciated . I will also mention that I had just spent a couple of hours shooting little groups with my friends T3 tactical in 308, so was kind of looking for one myself

I have one and absolutely love the feel of the stock. The stock is also extremely adjustable. The mag feeds flawlessly, the bolt operation is very nice and smooth, the plastic enlarged bolt knob feels quite nice too. I haven't really had the chance to develop a load for it yet, just fireformed some brass while shooting some 155gr FMJ. The 600m range at the local club is snowed in so it'll have to wait until the spring. I doubt you'd be disappointed in the T3 Sporter if you fired other Tikkas. I will say, it's not that heavy but I wouldn't be taking it hunting.

One was on the ee the other day being sold by " starving student"
A few days before that my buddy picked up a whole package deal also off the ee keep your eyes open. You will find one

One thing you may want to consider is that the sporter model is $700 more retail versus a regular varmint model. That's more then the cost of a fully inletted Mcmillan or Manners. Not to mention the small amount (maybe $100-150) you could make selling the factory stock afterwards.

The colour is a detractor for me, as well as the advertising they plaster on the stock (but that's just me). The good thing about going aftermarket is that you can get almost any colour/pattern you want.

I have one in .308, and I love it. Got it used, so I got a good deal on it. At first I didn't like the colours of the stock, but they've grown on me over time. The stock feels great to use once you've got it adjusted to your size. I really like the set trigger feature too, which is something that I believe you won't get if you order another model (I.e. Varmint) and I'm not sure if you can easily find to add on as an aftermarket piece. Just waiting for the snow to melt now to be able to do some load development for it. Shot some "generic" reloads late last fall, just as a beginning foray into reloading, but now itching to find what it likes in terms of handloads. Dang this snow!

Trav...you up around Hwy 11 way ?

Usually in the gravel pits up Hwy 11, just north of the city. The ones no longer used for hauling gravel, that is - there are several "abandoned" ones up there just off the highway. Just joined one of the local ranges, too, but haven't had a chance to check out their range yet. But at some of those pits, you can get out to 400m or so. What about you? Any good places out 17?

Ya there is a lot of places out here. Im just starting out and havent been out to really find a good spot yet. Ive been to the rock cut and plan on joining there. They only have 100 yards at the moment though.

T3 Sporters have the factory Set Triggers ,which is one of the sweetest triggers .I think around 400$ to buy the trigger
I have owned 223 & 308 Sporter 100 yrds under 1 moa. 223 a little fussy.I have a 260 Sporter and a Tikka Tactical 300wm in a Sporter stock , with a Set Trigger.
I had a Sako TRG 308 , shot 27 rounds ,did not like the trigger compared to the Set Trigger sold it( Liked the stock)
All the Tikka s I have shoot were under 1 moa, 223 , 22-250 Varmints, I have not shot any Lites ,but what I have read and others have told me they shoot 1 moa and under.
308 and 223 Hornady Steel Match ammo was excellent ,one hole in my 308 at 100 yards
You can not go wrong with a Tikka

Tikka lists the set trigger as an option for the T3 Sporter. I looked at 5 different T3 Sporter's in 308 before I found one with the set trigger.

Do you mean a sako trg?

Now I'm ticked! My T3 Sporter didn't come with a set trigger when I bought it two years ago. Didnt even know it was an option:mad: I was really happy with it until now ... :ninja:
