T81 Bent Rifles, or just how does one take measurements off a stamped receiver?

Yup! we just all paid 1000 for a 300$ rifle... LoL

Thats life. I spent more in one night at the rippers and all I got was crabs and a hangover  at least TI sent me a new bullet hose thats fun to shoot.

I hope they never get imported again. :) just like in the US.

Lol, how very true!

Also, it's not a $1,000 rifle... thats just what we were willing to pay for it.

This.......is so important to understand, but it seems very few on CGN get it.

It's not like this is the first Chinese firearm to show up in Canada, everyone should have understood what to expect, regardless of the price tag!

The t81 will come down like the t97 which by itself is a $700 rifle vs $1000 when they first came in. T81s seem to have more basic issues than t97 so who knows how far they will drop ?
There are plenty of fanboys here willing to pay over $2000 for a vaporware mikey mouse rifle that is worth $800. Gonna be the first kid on the block to own it right ?

My friend has a T97 that wasn't too overpriced. I think he paid $600? Anyway, it's a weird gun but I actually like shooting it better than I thought I would. The sights are certianly easier to use than the T81 grenade hose sights. :)

Has anyone heard back from TI about what they are doing about the bent T81's? I emailed, never heard back so I sold it on the EE. (i made it clear in my post that its bent). I'm curious to know if anyone has received any word from them?

I'm talking to thier smith, he asked for pics do I sent him about dozen.

I measured the barrel and difference from rear sight to the tip of the muzzle is 6mm off to the right.

Or the SLR rifle for 3000$ right
BHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAJJAJAJAJAJAJ

Now those fanboys know how it feels right

I am happy with my purchase, it's in spec, it's not visually bent, these are not CNC machined rifles with modern technology and molds, this is a new but old world receiver made by use of a stamping press, where receivers, literally are stamp out in sheet metal. These Type 81's are on par with Chinese Ak's, Romanian Ak's, Bulgaria etc... if you go on an American AK forum and ask them to lazer line their imported stamped AK's they would have the same issue...thats a fact, if its not visually bent then it's in spec... There are levels of OCD that should stick with CNC machined rifles...

Loving mine:

Took it to the range today, set up targets at 50 yards, I made no sight adjustments, just shot out of the box, I only need to make a small front sight adjustment to the right.... It's a great shooter (it's not designed to be MOA):

Nice shooting, it looks like I will have to wait till next weekend to get out to the range and hang some paper up for groups.

I will bring out my shooter SKS and 858 too for comparison purposes. Should be a fun day out, I have a few different kinds of ammo to try but for now will use czech surplus and 2 flavors of chinese copper wash steel case.

Further thoughts on" Bent Receivers":

Any measuring or visual checks (string line) must be done on a field stripped rifle to remove any possible optical effects.

Measuring off the muzzle, based on the samples in my possession, seems to indicate misalignment. But measuring from bare barrel, uncovered by the grenade launching attachment, shows 3 out of the 4 to be near bang on, and the fourth well with in stamped steel "spec"

I still want one. Id even buy one of those bent ones people are complaining about. I had a CZ 858, one of this first productions sent to Canada, and its barrel was canted off to the right. I didn't care. I had a gun that looked like and AK and it shot 4" at 100 meters. What more could I ask for? Eventually for what ever weird reason the barrel slowly made its way to center. By the time I had 1000rds though that gun, the barrel was centered. Like as if the barrel wasn't pressed in properly when being made and shooting it corrected it.

Me too. A repeat of the multiple threads of bent-rifle butt-hurt and all-around "drama" would be almost too much to take......

Yup, and the M10x and anything NEA/BCL, the amount of crying and drama on this site lately has made me sick of it and the total lack of reasonable thought has made trolling the only fun thing to do on here lately. I sure miss the days when people shot their guns then came on here to tell us how they are. Now it's not about shooting it's just crying and whining over nothing more than internet paranoia and making problems out of nothing.

OMG! My stamped receiver made in China rifle isn't perfect! The horror! How could they do this to us! Come on everyone let's all hold hands and cry together. Maybe if we cry loud enough Turdeau will give us $10.5M each for our hurt feelings and mistreatment by those meanies in China.

Think the price is too high? Don't buy it.
Don't like paying for something then waiting a year for your item? Don't do pre-order.
Don't like blindly buying a rifle from China and having it show up in typical Chinese rifle condition? Don't pre-order Chinese rifles.

This isn't a complicated game we're playing here, just need a tiny bit of common sense and a small dose of self control.

I don't pre order anything for the exact reasons you've stated. Its sounds like it saves me a lot of trouble.

I think there is a lot less real trouble and a lot more imagined trouble with these rifles. I won't pre-order anything, it only benefits the manufacturer/importer/retailer. It's a total scam for the consumer unless all a person cares about is having the new gun before the other guy.
