T81 Bent Rifles, or just how does one take measurements off a stamped receiver?

On a serious note...I haven't handled one of these rifles, but watched a take down video. Is the upper receiver portion which you take down to remove the bolt super thin metal. From what I saw and heard, it sounds like it's really really thin , I'd be afraid to drop or bang it.

its thin but wont bend easily

I have updated my original posts with more of my observations. I am even more impressed with these rifles than I was at first. I am very happy with my new rifles, no regrets.

All that remains is the shooting tests, all rifles will have updated posts after with the results.

Magazine update:

I have looked over all the mags I received and they all appear to be good except for three that I will need to tweak the feed lips and edges. Some are definitely much nicer done than others I will say.

I did not test all mags but the ones I did worked fine for BHO function.

So one of the mags that needs a tweak will NOT hold open on 2 of the 4 rifles. I did not try all of the "good" mags but the ones I did activated BHO on all rifles.

On the unreliable mag I can see that the piece on the follower that pushes the BHO tab up does not extend up as high as compared to a good mag.

Put rifles that may have shorter BHO tabs together with mags with the lower follower piece and I think that explains a lot of the BHO issues seen so far.

I wish TI was more vocal on here, I understand why they got frustrated and quit commenting but I'd like to know how many of the rifles that have been sent back were inspected and actually needed to be replaced compared to how many were just looked at and put back up for sale.

You really think that they looked over some of the ones that were returned with so called "issues" and sent them back out? It is possible but would be pretty disgusting if they did.....who knows what people did with these rifles as they were taking them apart and checking for problems.....mine was In a heat sealed thick clear plastic bag covered in packing oil/grease/cosmoline or whatever China uses.....better not been rebagged and sent out to me

Just saying that from some of the pics I've seen some of the rifles that were returned were probably just fine, guys were already mad about having to wait so they sent them back saying the receiver was bent when it looked more like the folding stock was just a little crooked. Not all of them of course, a couple actually looked pretty bad and were legitimately returned but some seemed like they were just guys being butt hurt and angry and wanted an excuse out of their rifle.
I would be fine with them re-selling the returned rifles (at a slight discount) as long as they fully inspected them and it was only a twisted folder that made the rifle look bent.

They should at least be repacking the magazines and sending them out to the guys that got shorted.

The more of these threads i read, the more i love my Tavor.

People telling people to stop whining about a $200 made in communist rifle costing $1000 when a made in the USA AR-15 costs $600...

Same rifle made in Canada (much more poorly) costs $1600.

Nothing to see here.

Think i'll go shoot my unbent rifle some more and not worry about it taking off my face.
