T97 picture thread

Its from china... your not allowed to be left handed there.

I like the comparison with the AK style action. Very interesting. It sure does cycle well... its very smooth. Thanks for those pics.

The difference between this model and the previous prohib model is the trigger group. This one was re-designed to NOT be "easily" convertible to FA... whatever that means. Doesnt matter, its NR and its mine. Just get one. Lol.

Anybody know what the deal on the rear sight is? My 100m aperture is the smallest and the one marked 5 is the largest. Also I'm assuming the tombstone rear post is for point shooting or something?

It looks AKish but you can see similar designs in other bullpups such as the Croatian VHS, the Singapore SAR21, and even FN's F2000. Except for the F2000, the other rifles I mentioned and the 97, the long rod connected to the bolt also acts as the strike plate for the piston. You wont see that with the Tavor because it uses a small long stroke piston gas system, instead of a short stroke system. By small I mean the Tavor's actual piston. I'll leave it to you people to look on the net to see those rifles disassembled.

Minor excerpts from

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-handedness#Social_stigma_and_repression_of_left-handedness

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bias_against_left-handed_people#Forced_conversion

Due to the importance of stroke order, developed for the comfortable use of right-handed people, it is considered more difficult to write legible Chinese characters with the left hand than it is to write Latin letters, though difficulty is subjective and depends on the person in question.

Western countries also attempt to convert left-handed children due to cultural, societal and religious biases. Schools tend to urge children to use their right hands, sometimes against the wishes of the child's parents. In America until corporal punishment was outlawed in schools it was not uncommon for students to be physically punished for writing with their left hands:[24] "I was educated in the USA in Catholic school in the 60s. My left hand was beaten until it was swollen, so I would use my right right [sic] hand" ... "I had a teacher who would smack my left hand with a yardstick every time she caught me writing with my left hand" ... "My fourth grade teacher [...] would force me to use my right hand to perform all of my school work. If she caught me using my left hand, I was hit in the head with a dictionary. It turned out that she believed left handers were connected with Satan."

Just shot my buddies T97 today its GTG

Pros
-accurate
-light recoil
-built like a tank
-reliable
-light weight and compact
-priced well

Cons
-sight radius is short making it hard to keep good sight alignment "optics will solve this"
-mag button is tiny
-trigger is light and smooth but has not break point "still beats the Tavors 100lbs trigger :p"
-ejects 20m "it now holds the record for longest spent casing throw lol"
-Safety is in a bad spot

I agree. The trigger is a little odd isn't it? First stage very soft and light, second stage still fairly light, but drops the hammer at an unexpected spot with little indication you're there... Not terrible, just weird.

I could not even feel a stage it was light the whole way but its smooth so its easy to keep the sights on target.

Calm down buddy... its a bit of a standing joke right now since the T97 isnt offered in any form of left configuration. It wasnt a serious swing at the Chinese culture or Chinese people in general.

It almost feels like what a 2 stage SL8 trigger would feel like, if there was such a thing. (Having just compared the 2)

I have to say i'm disapointed so far... Feels really really cheap. Like supersoaker watergun cheap. And its not because its a plastic bullpup, I own a tavor as well and I didnt feel that way when first picking that rifle up. And no thats not a cheap optic on it, thats a Browe BSO. I might be gifting this rifle to my wife afterall.

I agree to high.

How are you guys shooting with the optics that high, i know the open sights arent great but what gives, even the lowest red dot i have seen seems high.
