T97 picture thread

Type%2097%20A%20004i.jpg

the pic from can ams website made me think they have one, just wanted to know for sure.

Seems that my T97 is denting all my brass. I don't reload 5.56 right now so I don't really care but I might start reloading it in the future, anybody know if this can be prevented?

Then I noticed this little piece of plastic on the shooting bench. Is it from my T97? The only other gun I was running was a Glock and I have no idea where this plastic chunk came from. Looks like it was sheared off.

What scope is that you have on there? Also, what's the rand of that cheek riser? Sorry, pretty new to the whole black rifle stuff lol.

Sorry I didnt reply sooner. This is what you asked for.

Ok here is my first pass on a riser.
It's a magpul CTR with a .75 rise. I copied the idea from another member but modified it a bit differently: Radiused around the ejection port, cut the clip tabs off the bottom.
It's attached with double sided tape for now. The riser is a quite a bit wider than the stock, I may have to revisit the mounting but for now, it aligns perfectly with the red dot (Strikefire).

Check the EE as it is already up for sale.
Like I stated before. The novelty of this firearm will soon wear off due to the complete lack of modern day design norm's that we now take for granted.

Could say the same thing about my CZ858. Strangely it's one of the firearms I enjoy shooting the most. My CZ won't replace my AR rifles or my Tavor but then again I never expected it to. Yet it's cheap to shoot and a great all around plinker. My expectations for the T97 were the same as my CZ. Fun, cool looking NR plinker. I think as long as people keep their expectations realistic they will be very happy with the T97.

That brass will resize/reload just fine, small dents are not an issue. I've loaded brass with much larger dings and dents.

My approach is take it as it is. I am using the iron sights until a rail system comes out. They seem to work well for me.

Honestly this is my first black rifle, and I'm really enjoying it. When I buy something I almost always mod the crap out of it to personalize it as much as I can. I've got some shotguns and 10/22's that look nothing like the original, but noone seems to cry foul with that, do they?
I think people have just been used to one design for so long tht any deviation from the norm is taken as some personal insult, and that's weird. Most of my guns are 70 years old and are nothing like my new ones, but that's ok. I like to change it up.

I like AR's a lot, but would rather take it out to the bush. I've already taken the t97 out hunting with me and it was a lot of fun. I like tavors too and would love to own one one day, but 3000$ is ridiculous, to be honest. I say kudos to the Chinese for opening up the market so that we can all get in on the black rifle NS fun.

I figure it'll be a couple months before a myriad of aftermarket parts/doodads/upgrades will be available so I'm not worried about little things like the safety or mag release placement. When I'm slogging around the bush the chamber is empty and safety off anyway. And I doubt the faction of a second longer it'll take me to swop mags is going to bother me out there lol.

Obviously this firearm is not for everyone, and when I first saw it years ago I thought ewww. Lol but she grew on me. Like a bulldog, so ugly it's cute ;)

The novelty of this rifle will not wear off for me. Its small, light, takes AR mags, and is as close to the Chinese military rifle as you're going to get - it is also very robust

I like it with irons but a mini red dot might make it faster and handy for CQB

Anyone know what the M14.ca/T97.ca flat top upper is going to look like?

Only time will tell, but I would bet it anchors onto the front sight and the rear mount. Hopefully they make a handguard only rail as well similar to the old t97 ris rail system.

I'd really be interested in a flat top with a side charging handle and a mod for the mag release, hopefully those are included in the 7 mods they said they will be making.
