T97 picture thread

I am in awe of M14.ca.

You turned FUGLY into dead ###Y. Who has the "clapping/ bravo" GIF file for this one?

I'm betting they're also working on a charging handle knob, with ambi mounting.. Easy to put in and great for usability. And my previous post wasn't a wisecrack.. For now, real steel T97 owners are a small market but airsoft versions of this gun are a big market. We can all benefit from a great product.

Will you (M14.ca) try for pop-up battle sights, sort of akin towards the new Tavors? It appears that your prototype has plenty of material to carve out a niche in the back. Furthermore, The front rail could also utilize this. Best of all, They could remain 'thick' as opposed to the Tavor's skinny - fragile - profile. My .02 cents. Cheers!

I don't think it would compatible with the airsoft Type 97 though, he/she will need to retool/design their cnc machine for airsoft type 97.

IF it can be done without too much hassle (not a machinist nor do I play one on TV), it can do a lot to offset the overall production costs and benefit all 3 parties. Just throwing out some food for thought :)

love the look of that, wonder if it would hold zero when you take it off to clean the gas system.

That's a very valid concern. Might need to involve it being fixed and incorporating a retainer for the reg, so the reg can be taken out without taking off the mount. Then it becomes a non-issue.. Of course we'd require enough clearance to tap the piston out from behind after shooting that dirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrty Norc ammo ;)

I hope that's not the final shape.

The rail could be lower if the charging handle was reworked into a side charger. Conversely, if a side charging handle is not in the plan, the space available to get your fingers in to work the handle is far too small.

It's way better than stock, but it could be much better than it is.

Where did you get your info? From what I understand the Real Sword 97 uses the exact same chassis.

Supposedly the front sight on this version may be different in some ways than the older version of the T97, so I would imagine it is possible that the airsoft version is different. There is only one way to find out.

I wouldn't doubt the whole charginging handle bit; I expected as much in fact. However, the charging handle, whether foldable or tabbed horizontally, could appear later.

As far as the airsoft goes; I wouldn't doubt it. I used to play paintball, and I readily agree to players upgrading their markers to new heights.

I happen to love the rail's height; in fact, it 'seems' at the perfect level for optics withought buggering the chin weld. If it were too low, I think it would require a raised sights anyways. Aesthetically, it is much more attractive than a boring AR/ rail system in a bulpup. As many adventurous members on this forum have demonstrated, a cheek raiser is readily available for anyone's comfort.

Description: Stage one fit and assessment of first prototype T97NSR Flat Top Upper optics mount. This is a representation only. More to come...
T97.ca_FTU_1.jpg

The T97.ca "FTU" or Flat Top Upper for the Norinco T97NSR bullpup rifle is a CNC machined, 6061 series aluminum, 1913 picatinny optics mount that is 14 inches long. The FTU begins at the rear most "Tab" of the rifle's rear stock, covers the original rear sight post and extends forward to cover the original front sight. It features two, 4" 1913 picatinny, removable side rails that are keyed in a trackway and bossed on the rear face for optical precision and strength. The height from the horizontal flat of the rear stock comb to the top of the FTU is 1.1". The reciprocating charging handle opening is approx. 5.5" wide and 1" high.

More photos here.

The installation of the FTU requires a trim of the front and rear sight post towers: a simple procedure (with instructions to follow). It is affixed in position securely using a proprietary, bolt on design that is lightweight. Parts of the programming and design for the new T97.ca FTU were taken from our M14.ca Scout Hand Guard and the 4" picatinny side rails are carried over from the Blackfeather "RS."

Inquiries about the T97NSR FTU should be directed via PM or email as below.

Thank-you.

Will the trim's of the front/rear sight posts prevent you from rolling back the T97 to stock, if you so desired?

I hope you have tiny fingers then to run the charging handle.

If you REALLY wanna ghetto it, that can be fixed with 5min on the drill press, a nut, a bolt and a bit of loctite. I expect a nicer-looking solution from m14.ca, though

I hope so. I don't think much of having to use a single finger to run the bolt of a .223 rifle. It's not a M2 Grease Gun.
