Here are some pics of the bolt/bolt carriers from both guns: (T97 top, Tavor bottom)
Here are some shots of the T97's gas selector. You have to push in the notched metal lever (push it toward the carry handle) and turn the paddle. When your disassembling the gun, this is also how you remove the piston and spring.
(NOTE: That is NOT rust in the pictures... its just a weird flash reflection from my camera)

I think you may have misinterpreted Ridenrain's post. I didn't think it was a criticism of your work. I interpreted it as Ridenrain saying he/she was trying to convince him or herself to buy a Tavor instead of the T97 but your logical review of them both has provided food for thought.

I had this idea to use a cheek riser from a Magpul CTS stock to get a bit better cheek weld. I thought perhaps I could cut a few slots in the rear cover and have it snap on just like it does on the CTR... but after looking at it, it wont work that way. So I decided to get a bit more old school.
I wish I could say it was more custom but its just held on with velcro. Its tight, doesnt wiggle and isnt going to fall off. Time will tell how it holds up but I can say this, cheek weld is improved at least %75... I can actually use my cheek on the riser and see right through the sight. Plus, its completely removable, no modifications to the gun at all.

When the Norc M4's first came in they were $899. Now $699 or less
All these people buying the current T97 for $1000+ will be pissed off when the Canam T97's flood the market @ $849 .
And if Marstar ever get's off their butt & brings in a shipment they will probably be less .
Now the Norc M4's are plentiful in the EE & people want way more than they cost new because they put some aftermarket parts or upgraded internal parts. Aside from putting on a cheap optic rail the T97 is not easily modified or upgraded. So a year or so from now when T97's are readily available
new for well under $1000 it will be funny seeing the EE ads of people trying to sell their used T97's for hundreds more than a new one
But hey if you are one of the have to have it now there are lots of dealers ready to fill your needs right now
You're talking about a rifle that was a little too unredesigned the first go around. What do you think makes the difference between a semi auto and a full auto? The action and most of the rifle are the same as the military version. The action is AK inspired. Take a look at it. There is nothing here that isn't tried and true. This is a very simple firearm based on a system known for it's reliability. So yes.
Either way your choice. Maybe you'll get one cheaper later on or the G model changes will be added to the export version. Or they will be cheaper later on. Not being an early adopter can be good. But I felt confident with this one after over four years and my second pre order. Was on the first one before it was reclassified.
So using the above ..explain CZ VZ hick-ups .... Another AK design .. Nothing is known for sure till it has been experienced .. Some previous posts about FF problems with the first go around .. So how about ... " so maybe ".
I only jump in as I have had experience tinkering with a VZ 58 .. Never touched a t97 .. Never saw the inside or the design, but I should never of had to add a washer to the inside of a VZ58 ( .223 ) in order to get it to not " hang fire " .. It was redesigned military ,converted to semi-auto ..correct?

Tried and true for sure. For example, there is a kit in the US for about $200 that will turn your $200 SKS into a bullpup. So your overall cost is about half of the T97 but ironically the kit is not allowed in Canada.
Wonderful world .. The US has the kit but can't buy the rifles, we have the rifles but can't buy the kit! .. Normal I guess !
Edit .. Can a US sportsman buy a Russian SKS?
From the history of the VZ.58 that I've read, it was only built for the military in 7.62x39, not 556 NATO, where as the T97 was purpose built 556 NATO and another light round.
VZ requires redesign alterations for the cartridge and semi function where as T97 only needs redesign for the semi function.
Your post makes little sence and is difficult to understand, "explain CZ VZ hick-ups .... Another AK design". Do you know what an AK design looks like because the VZ/CZ is not an AK design, not even close.

The vz58 is not an ak design.
The type 97 is ak inspired though...
Lower: Valmet M78 bolt group/carrier/spring
