T97 vs Tavor Threads Merged

Heres another video. this was my first few runs with the gun. Sorry for the bad camera angle... hard to see what your filming while your filming yourself. Lol.

Anyone who tries to make the point that these are competing guns cant seriously think you SHOULDNT get more for your money.
You buy a chevy for a reason, you buy a cadillac for a reason and there is a GOOD reason they dont cost the same $$. They both DO the same thing, get you from A-B... they both function fine. But if your looking for ultimate refinement and high end ergonomics you go with the Cadillac IF you can afford it. If you just want to drive around and have some fun, a Chevy will do just fine.

Lets not turn this into a Chevy/Cadillac thing... I dont care if you like or agree with my analogy. Its concept is sound.

It's not mine (tavor)is better than yours (T97). It's mine is battle proven and tested, left handed friendly and easy to operate controls. This whole concept of T97 bush gun / plinker versus Tavor competition is not a fair point to make. They are both black rifle bullpups in the same category and therefore need to be compared on the same even playing field that both are designed for.

I ditched my tavor a while back. I'm eager to get my hands on my T97. I wouldn't be surprised if I find it to be more accurate than my tavor was. And if it is, that will make it a better gun for me minus its drawbacks.

-setting "0" is for rifle grenades

-follow through with your trigger pull and you will get even tighter groups :)

Gotta say, the t97 feels really really really cheap, feels like an airgun or a supersoaker watergun. I havent shot it yet, but it feels really flimsy. The tavor, you just feel the quality from picking it up immediately. I'm entitled to say this, because well, I own both of these rifles, so it's not my ##### is bigger than yours kind of deal.

Setting zero makes more sense now. I couldnt figure out why they'd want a setting that doesnt cycle the gun.

I KNEW someone would point out my trigger work. Lol... Im no marksman i guess.

LOL...The T-97 and its variants has been used by the Chinese Army for a long time. Where do you go to fight? Why does your rifle HAVE TO BE BATTLE PROVEN if your not a fighter?

PS. Many guns may be battle proven, but is the user?

It's all about reliability, reliability, reliability. I'll take Israeli made reliability over Chinese any day.

As for where I fight, all the tinfoil hatters here talk about SHTF situations.

And if your gun is only 99.9% reliable? How is that gonna effect your range trips, bush shooting or hunting? Your life isn't on the line when it comes to the gun and its not gonna work 100% of the time, always either. Nothing does. User error WILL cause you to make a mistake with your Tavor (or any gun) before the gun itself give you issues if you run it clean and with good ammo.

I cannot accept the Tavor because...1) ####ty trigger, 2) the "meh" accuracy using standard ball ammo and 3) the price. Even IF they gun somehow could NEVER muck up and become unreliable those issues make (even a SUPER reliable gun!) not very fun to use.

Price alone...doesn't bother me if it performs, I own a Swiss Arms and a HK MR 308, both very $$$ but both beat out the Tavor in every way expect compactness...but I am not trying to hide them under a coat so I am not too worried :p

Whoa. That's a very high mounted optic. I would need a cheek riser of some sort for that setup.
~$1k for an NR modern(ish), hehehe, semi-auto does sound tempting.
I just wish they would ditch the cheesy sci-fi carry handle, and clean up the ergos (charging handle and safety location = WTF).

Explain that to the people who had cracks receiver on their kel tec.
Explain that to the people who had problems with the initial run or XCR.

At least the have warranty on those 2 firearm companies.

You get what you pay for. It has always been the case.

Type 97 is short recoil, striker fired so nothing like a AK

Different enough that it's not a variant that's for sure. Just like the Swiss Arms PE90 not being a variant of the AK.

It"s more of the Vz 58, except the type 97 have a rotating bolt. (same short stroke piston and striker fired)

Say what? Have you ever taken apart a VZ58, CZ858 rifle? The action is tilting block. The T97 is different enough that it's not an AK or variant. Perfect. But the heart of the rifle, the action is AK inspired. Fireball posted an actual AK action (Valmet rifle) and the T97 side by side. Very similar.

I was more so referring to people who are buying good firearms from good manufacturers, spend your money once, even if it is more and spend it right...everyone makes a lemon once in a while but yea. I will never buy anything KEL TEC personally.
