As this new rifle comes closer to our shores I think it should have a thread of it's own, outside of the dealer/importer forums. Questions and information can be exchanged without stepping on peoples toes.

haha, good suggestion, I was thinking about that myself, we all know t97nsr is made by NORC, and t97nrr is sold under CA's own dominion arms brand. I was curious where the t97nrr being made? Hopefully it is still by NORC but customized for CA?

It's still just wishful thinking until we get a shipment and they start shipping to those on the pre-order lists.
I got to handle one of the sample rifles and was impressed but this is taking forever. I wish they hadn't said anything until the FRT was approved and the first shipment was on it's way.

Mine is coming from CanAm, They get my money no matter which supplier gets them first. After what they went through with the T-97A I think they deserve it. I might even buy 2 :)

Has there been any updates? Getting pretty close to when they said they were supposed to be here. Or did I get the year wrong? ;)

For the thousandth time NORINCO dose NOT make anything !
They are an exporter NOT a manufacturer

Exactly.

The Type 97 NSR is branded "Emei".

The Type 97 NRR is branded Dominion Arms.

Both are Chinese products. Chances are pretty good they are coming from the exact same place. The only difference is a decal and the opening price.

lol, point well taken. I understand NORC is just the exporter, but it is so easy to use NORC for everything as most of the stuff has/ or at least advertised as NORC brand. :)

Information still seems pretty limited. I just read the review in Calibre magazine not to many spec's but a very positive review. I have a question for the people that know. Is the barrel threaded or is the flash hider pinned on?

Both? Neither?

Wolverine has it right now. Probably best to just ask them. No one else has really had it save for tose lucky enough to peek at it on its road tour.

You mean waiting for ARs with barrels longer than 18.5 inches long becoming non restricted. Still a long shot.

No firearm of any kind or barrel length should have any classification. You should have a license to own firearms and that's it. Buy whatever you want and use them all just like we do with non restricted now.
The only thing a longer barrel does for safety is nothing, if anything it makes them more dangerous as the increase in muzzle velocity increases the effective range, long barrel or short barrel are still just as lethal in the wrong hands. It's the crazy people we screen out and restrict from owning them not the firearms themselves. Make the sentence for committing a crime with a firearm 30 years with no chance of parole as a minimum.

As for the question about the flash hider being threaded or pinned, sorry I didn't think to look when I had it in my hands for the couple minutes I got to play with it. I don't personally care as I was actually fairly impressed with the quality and the finish on the rifle. I'm glad I've been on the list since 2010 with CanAm and I am looking forward to getting mine out to the range and running a few hundred rounds through it once they finally arrive.

You're making far too much sense for the government to ever consider what you have said. Pretty sad, really.

Really? you should rewrite the wikipedia article on them then:

Here is what I have gathered so far:

It does not accept polymer magazines only usgi mags

There is a scope mount available from canam

The firearm is reliable and at least fairly accurate (past t97s were very accurate)

The ergonomics suck (oh well)

Can still use usgi Beo mags :)

Flash hider is pinned and not threaded

I cannot think of anything else at the moment.

All I was saying is that under the current rules if the AR was made non restricted, most of ours still would be. Seems some figure they will all be NRif the get "un named"

But yes, guns are guns.
