What about the larger, deeper hole directly above the gouge? You know the one the gas goes through? Are you worried about that one affecting "performance accuracy reliability to some degree"?

As a metal worker I am a bit concerned. There is a difference between drilling and gouging metal. With drilling you cut and remove the material. When you gouge or dent metal it is displaced and could make a high spot.

Lesson here is have patience, don't be the guinney pigs for new to market Chinese guns. Already there are shops selling them for $899....yes the same NSR that is $1049 most places. So not only have you overpaid, you got lemons on top of that.

Pretty good summary.

have to accept that one if you want the semi auto version, wonder why bolt rifles are more accurate.., so your saying if i went and purchased a replacement barrel for my AR and the manufacture overdrilled the gas hole that i should not worry about it as it wont affect anything. you really would accept that... kinda like buying dented cans of food, it's fine not going to hurt anything..

lol bet the $899 ones have the drill mark! :) 20% off dented can sale!

there is no chance that a barrel with drill mark will perform better than without.

Do you have a scientifically gathered sample size large enough to statistically validate this hypothesis? What if the drill marked barrels do perform better?

maybe without hole it would have shot 1 moa!!

All day long, with surplus ammo, in a 45 minute of angle cross wind, with heavy mirage. :p

Then I'd fully expect sellers and retailers to start talking this up as a selling feature like they currently do regarding "ex sniper" Mosins, black bolt SKS etc. ie mostly bull poop. ;)

IF you have something such as a firearm built in China common sense says you have YOUR rep in the building who checks quality control on every item being manufactured. It is part of the cost of doing business and you build it into the cost.

Too true. But you never know until you shoot one. Barrels and harmonics are strange animals. And the gas port is drilled at that specific spot for a reason. Only by shooting a large number of marked and unmarked barrels could you actually prove that the mark is a problem or not.

As long as the feature is consistent then barrel harmonics should be as well. POA off? Adjust sights enjoy.

Methinks folks paid way too much for these rifles anyway...way to much. Would I buy one? Sure but for $200 to $300 not $800 or $1000, that's just crazy high for a Chinese built milsurp.

If you bought a $1000 iPad that was manufactured for Apple in China by Foxconn and it had dead pixels and a scratch on the back.....

What would you accept?? Apple saying we have identified the issue at the factory that the product is functional and safe. No actions will be taken.

North Sylva should do something like offer a free scope mount for those affected.

Expect it cost almost nothing for Apple to make an Ipad.
HUGE profit margin.

Learn that mail order firearms isn't the best of ideas, and go to the store myself to pick it up and inspect rifle before taking possession. Mine is free and clear of the barrel defect.

No, it's a $300 POS made by the lowest bidding factory in CHINA that you paid $1000 for in hype tax.

It's a knock off of a QBZ-95 which in turn is a bad knock off of other service bullpups.

A horribly thought out third world gun.

Next time, pass on the $5 Rolex or at least wait to see if your friends $5 Rolex lasts more than a week before he bins it.

MADE IN CHINA

Lol... ;-)
