Here's a couple photos of my MRP with Scout light at 12 O'clock...
Prior to trying this one, I had been using an X300 at 12 O'clock, but I have found that running the Scout in this position has several advantages over the x300:
- don't have to remove the light in order to change batteries
- MUCH less prone to light ND's than the toggles on the X300
- switch is well protected, no need for a lockout switch, probably the biggest downside to the X300
- slimmer (doesn't get in the way of the IR illuminator and cause reflection like the X300 does to my ATILLA)
- no need for tape switches
- no worries about storing in a case and having the light illuminate due to pressure from the case
And, like the X300, it's totally ambidextrous, compact, lightweight, durable, better around corners and obstacles than lights mounted at 3/6/9.
I grip the forend out front and simply rotate my support thumb up and push the activation button ahead of the front sight. Works like a charm.
If there is a downside, it's that you cannot use a Larue mount for the Scout light as it puts the light too high and blocks the front sight.
