Tactical M14 stocks?

"...tactical stocks..." Geezuz. There's no such thing. The word 'tactical' is a marketing term only. ANY stock is tactical. As is any rifle.

Laugh2
I have to agree with you, the marketers have done an outstanding job with the term " Tactical "
Paint it black, drill a hole in it and add whatever to the price and call it Tactical. It will sell.

Excellent point on "tactical" anything. You can get a wooden M14 stock from fredsgunstocks.com for $25. I will be starting with that. As much as I love the Sage EBR, I wouldn't waste $1000 on a stock unless it was going under the National Match M14. Those rifles are only $3500, any Joe can afford one! What's the emoticon for sarcasm?

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

I went with VLTOR
Here is one more for you Canuck.

JAE, hands down. The ultimate long range rig, IMPO.
Placed side by side, everything else just fades away. Quality, precision, attention to detail, there is none better.
1 yr wait and $1500 to get it. Having had it for a for while now, it was one of the best buys I've ever made.
Having said that, I'm a die hard M1A guy, so a quality chassis that can get transferred to any rig I desire...Norc, Springer, LRB etc......priceless

Hard to describe unless you have seen and felt one. Sorry if it's not tactical, but not enough is said on this forum about them....by a long stretch.
Old pic, but good enough.

That Vltor stock is ###y, I love the rail handguard. I am having a hard time not splurging.. even though I know I shouldn't this thread is not helping the situation.

Canuck where did you get that Vltor stock and how much does it run? I am also in the boat of looking for a cool stock setup, but most of them are so expensive after you add up all the buttstocks and extra pieces needed. What is wrong with the Arch Angel stock? Does it have issues? I really like the look of the KAC or Troy handguard, but still need a stock for them.

Got it from Armtac

:agree:
Once you can hit a 16x16 inch gong at 800 meters 4 out of 5 shots repeatedly it takes the wind out of the sails of these "other" AR style stock designs. Although if you only shoot 300 meters and less hell fill your boots with any Vltor (Make sure it's purchased legaly cause after a few thousand rounds it will need repairs) or M14Doctor stocks (The guy who made these retired to a far off wilderness place and can be a bugger to talk to from time to time cause of were he lives.)

Well, I'm here almost everyday hehehe (m14doc) although my stocks were marketted under the name I.C.R. And all are serial numbered ICR###xx except the ones I gave to some guys for free. I honour the lifetime warranty but no longer manufacture the stocks. Another entity will be releasing those stocks again, but my direct involvement ceased when I retired. ;)
I've hit the gongs at 800 M with the krieger barrelled norc/usgi hybrid in my M14SA2 stock but yer right, Vltor and stocks similar to the ICR M14S-CQB are for close up to 600M as far as that goes.

JAE is a true sniper system for this platform and appeared to be "the choice" for the LEO's and private contractor build requests when I had my full service M14 riflesmithin shop open. Sage and Troy close seconds. The black feather was trialed for what was to be a 6 rifle contract but the "entity" requesting the rifles chose sage after testing the first 2 LRB builds built them on.
Engagement to 800M was part of the criteria
Sage won out for repeated accuracy, hot barrel and due to handguard and accessory options not availlable with the black feather.
