Tactical Semi-Auto Shotgun

Having owned all the shotguns mentioned in this post I gotta agree the Hatsan is not in the ballpark of the big boys. It is a great value-excellent really but it's no Fabarm or Benelli. It is the best semi for the money in it's class (Dominion Cougar, Turkish Kral). For $1000 and under I'd look at the Mossberg 930 and investing in modifying it (my current project). Or if you can find one a used Beretta 1201FP.

Here is my Benelli M2 Tactical. Just to give a visual to any wanting one. :) The M2 is slightly cheaper than an M4 and uses the Benelli Inertia Drive System.

Its wearing an S&J Hardware 6 shot detachable shot shell carrier.

Ghost load mod done on bolt to allow 5+1+1 2 & 3/4" shells.

Light mount in transit so I can mount up my TLR-1

As for Fabarm...they are very light and have sharper recoil than the Benelli...i have also found them to be less accurate.

I'm curious as to how you came to this conclusion.

umm, ...admittedly i'm no expert here, but reviews i've read by owners of the Hatsan MP-A indicate it is a great value in a tactical semi, cycles pretty much every type of load reliably, and for those on a budget it's a viable alternative to high dollar guns like the Benelli M4.

I've never even seen any of the guns being chatted about in this thread but I believe you have a valid point.
One thought I have is I never read anyone stating that one is easier to load than another.
In my experiences (limited);
- if a gun didn't work it would get flamed - hard.
- The guy who wins a shotgun stage isn't the guy who can unload it the fastest- It's the guy who can load it quickest.
- The market will dictate that as price increases; fit, finish and pride of ownership increase. But like many things it doesn't mean that the entry level product doesn't work.
- A benefit of a $2000.00 gun is I can buy more aftermarket parts for it? (???) I can see having to buy a few items for my $500.00 Rem/Moss but other than items to stick on a picatiny rail (if thats your bag) you shouldn't need any changes for that kind of money.
- They all appear pretty slick though, perhaps this 3.5" chamber idea has a project written in there...

LOL!

Ok, so if I look at a 3.5" shotgun w 5 round tube, that would legally load 6 shells of 2.75"...?
Hmm...makes me wonder about the higher end Benellis and Berettas...pricey, not sure if extended tubes are even available for those "sporting" models...or whether 'ghost loading' can be done with some of those. I know that the Beretta 391 and Beneli Super Black Eagle are some REALLY nice shotguns, if pricey! (no I didn't check to see if they have 3.5" chambers yet)

7 in most cases, depends on case length and avalable magazine length.

As an owner of both MP-A and a M4, I can say this without hesitation, they are 2 very different animals.

Load out procedures are different ( re-chambering a different load ie: double 0 buck to slug)

Balance weight is different. Recoil feel is different. Loading technique is different. Etc.....

The differences are subtle and as on more than one occasion, I ve had the misfortune of not making the adjustments and my practical run score end up sucking balls.

Is it a fact that these two are leagues apart ? From a milspec standpoint - HANDS down the M4 is the clear winner.

It breaks down, cleans and reassembles for even idiots like me.

Is it worth the xtra cost ? yes if u need a milspec shotgun.

BUT keep in mind Haitian security units uses the MP-A as their shotgun along with various police forces so the MP-A has merit for combat/riot use.

From a reliability stand point both have been flawless and I do not baby them like its the hope diamond. Its used HARD and Ive the heavy loading marks to show that on both the ejection ports.

4000 + rounds on the MP-A
1300 + rounds on the M4

no failures.

Have only test run the Benelli, smooth, reliable, mag disconnect, extendable mag tube, interchangable choke, inirtia and gas assist, minimal recoil even with slugs, easy field strip, pricey but worth it. but then again I may be Biast.
