Tactical Side by Side

What is tactical ?
My guess is:

-Lots of picatinny/mlok real estate

-No wood

-Oversized everything for operating thru blood, sweat and mud with gloves

-shoulder thing that goes up

20" barrels, 16" if available with reliable and powerful ejectors/extractors with a rattle can camo paint job would be my take on the "tactical SxS" with room for a flashlight in respect to the tactical vibe.

Stoeger double defense. I do believe mossberg may have had a blacked out SxS at one point alongside the HS12 O/U, I may be wrong.
Mossberg had a HD Tactical O/U that wouldn't fire pointed down. So good luck shooting down the stairs.

Id need a shotgun that would function full of cat and dog hair. Not like anyone would break into my place. Many are scared of my dogs.

IMO, a break action shotgun, even a single barrel, could be an ideal gun for some people, and effective for anyone. An online guy who highly impressed me had set up his nonshooting GF with a smaller gauge single barrel break action shotgun for when he was away, fitted it with a simple side saddle and suitable shells. It's all very well to say she would have been better off with a 12 gauge pump or semiauto, but once you've fired a 12 or any gun in a confined space you're going to know it's not for everyone, 'specially not an unpracticed user. They had everything set up so the master bedroom was her safe room and she could bar the door, shelter behind a piece of heavy furniture, put on the ear pro muffs that were there along with the gun, not forgetting a dedicated cell phone, and wait to either shoot or for the cops to show up. Whole thing was as foolproof as you could get, there were no room-to-room fantasies she wasn't capable of, no huge disorienting pressure waves if she had to shoot, just an effective setup that SHE was comfortable with.

For what's available for the tactical sxs market you're better off finding a good condition Russian or German double and chop the barrels and drill and tap the ribs for any lights or lasers you wish to add. The stock can be cut as well with respect to legal overall length limits.
First major important thing about a tactical gun should be reliability not looks. I'd trust a rusty old baikal to fire more than just about anything else of earth. Plus with a baikal if you don't wanna reload it makes a useful club
I once saw a video of a Russian knocking out wild boar happy Gilmore style using an ij58 double
