tactical trap gun?

Prepare for the glares of others, if you plan to be tacticool on a trap field.....It was "THE" gentleman's sport once upon a time, despite what we all know goes on from time to time, off the field ;) in the club house, stories about wives and girlfriends and may they never meet......

That said, best of luck, whatever floats your boat.

Here you are! A trap gun with a pistol grip otherwise known as a the Ljutic Space Gun. Sorry, there's no bayonet mount available.

I like my pistol grips... does anyone have any suggestions for a tactical look shotgun that I could use for trap? Prefer semi.

I don't have any suggestions for you, as I shoot a traditional Beretta S682X trap gun.

However, you should shoot whatever you want to, and have fun with it. Don't worry about the old Fudds and their opinion of your gun. The man makes the gentleman, not the gun.

As far as I am concerned we need to encourage everyone to come out and shoot the clay sports with whatever shotgun they have. It is, after all, a really fun thing to do. The newbies will find out soon enough that a dedicated trap gun would be a big help to them if they choose to get serious about the game. In the meantime, get out and shoot!

Hey Claybuster,
Have you ever shot one? Back in the day (80"s) I had 5 different buddies that had them . Not one could shoot well consistantly. Fun though, I shoot a Ljutic Mono T and am just purchasing a BiGun. I would buy a Space gun though just for ####s and giggle if one comes up in Canada. I see the odd one in the States

Don't worry about the old Fudds. They drive me nuts. One time I was standing at the trap field waiting for my squads turn and an old Fudd with a Kreighoff, blinders etc tells me I cant shoot Trap with my gun, I need a 32" barrel to shoot trap. I told him I was just sharpening up my skills for upland hunting, and proceeded to shoot my 20ga Cynergy Field right next to him. I shot a 23, the old Fudd was lucky if he hit 20. After the round I politely thanked him for "letting" me shoot. My shooting buddy shoots an open sight camo Turkey gun with X-full turkey choke, and consistently shoots 23's and beats guys with guns that cost more than our cars.

Moral of the story, shoot what you like, just be polite and respect other shooters.

If you're just potting some clays, I don't think you'll have any problems (other than a few curious looks). But, if you're gonna compete in sanctioned events, you need to know that Optics are prohibited, and your mag, assuming your gun has one, must be blocked so it can only accept one shell.

I occasionally use my duck gun with a 28" ported barrel, just before the Fall, just to get ready, and nobody cares. But, it's a pump with a 2-round mag, so I couldn't use it in competition.

Just to be clear , you can use your pump with a 4 round mag if you like in competition as along as you only load 1 at a time for singles and handicap or 2 for doubles.

I've never shot one but have seen them in the U.S. Damn ugly gun.

I just want to have some fun shooting some little clay discs as they fly in the sky... I like the practical feel of the tactical shotguns and they feel more natural in my hands and this will be for fun only. If I were to seriously want to compete, then I would be getting a serious gun built specifically for that task, I don't need to handicap myself anymore than I already am in competition but for fun around the range during a turkey shoot or to take out for the odd field trip for bagging some birds I figure I might as well have something I like the looks of in a format I'm used to.

Sorry, but I was referring to ISSF Rules:

"Guns with magazines must have the magazine blocked so that it is
not possible to put more than one (1) cartridge in the magazine."

2013 Rulebook, section 9.4.2.4

I've had a sneaking desire to try a floating dot scope in trap for fun ever since I started shooting clays. Thought it would be fun just like Wingshoot says. I'll bet you a guy could hit straight aways or quartering shots really well with one. Not so sure about crossers in skeet or picking up the bird from number one station on a double though?

Had a member bring out a burris speed bead, attaches between the stock and receiver of the gun.

Useless for skeet, at 16 yds not much easier. But at 27 yards, when lead is much more precise, It offered a noticeable advantages, you could be much more precise and have a point of reference.
