I'm looking really hard at the Luxus 11, 90% certain I'm going to order one soon.
I'm having a hard time deciding on which chamberings to choose for a 2 barrel set.
Classic cartridges are what appeal to me, but there are so many good choices it's driving me a little batty! :)

7x57 and 9.3x62 are the two that jump out at me, but I already have two of each that I'm not likely to sell, still, I'm leaning that way.
When you start pairing them up, there are a lot of good possibilities.
They are some of the most common out there, but the individual cartridges that I'm serious about are:
.22 Hornet (the least favored of the bunch); .250 Savage; .257 Roberts; 6.5x55; 7x57; .30/06; 8x57; 9.3x62

I would probably stay away from .375 H&H in a 6.75-7 lb rifle, and I already have a 1-S .375 Ruger ( mind you I also have a 1-A 7x57).

Thoughts?
What would your choices be?

Classy rifle choice! I'd go 9.3x62 and 7x57, stacked against the more modern offerings they still do the job just as good but with the style and elegance only classics can provide.

Given that you already have good keeper rifles in 7x57 and 9.3x62...

I would go with 6.5x55 and 9.3x64 if it was an option. Even more punch than the 9.3x62 and a good conversation starter.

If the 9.3x64 isn't available, then I would get the 257 Roberts and the 8x57, and load the 8mm with 200gr or heavier. Either of these would give lots of flexibility.

I saw a Rigby-Mauser takedown with two barrels once; .275 Rigby (aka 7x57) + 9.3x62. It's really tough to come up with a combination that would be much better.

I like the .300 H&H and .375 H&H combo. With a scope the rifle should be closing in on 8 lbs, which is not too bad for recoil - especially if you keep the 300gr loads down to ~2500fps like the original loading. Same for the .300 H&H, the original loading only slightly beats modern .30-06 loads and killed everything.

This would also be a fantastic choice and very classic. I don't usually consider the 375H&H to be very "classic" because it's just so common, like a 30-06. But if you are pairing it with the .30 super then that elevates it by reminding people of its roots, IMO. This is even a better suggestion than mine.

I can't explain why, but the .300 H&H just doesn't really do it for me.
I would honestly rather shoot a .30/06, it's one of my favorites even though it is probably the most boring and common chambering out there.

I don't know what would be better....to send you to the corner with a dunce cap, or have you write, 100x - "The .300 H&H is one of the coolest cartridges ever made". :)

I was all set to berate you until I noticed that you said "saw" and not "had". I'd have been some jealous of you if that was sitting in the safe!

It certainly does make a cool pair combined with the .375 H&H, but to me .275 Rigby and .375 H&H would be better.
I'll go to the corner now. :)

No, pairing a Rigby and a Holland is not natural. It's like wearing a cowboy boot and a running shoe. You may be able to walk, but you'll feel like a dunce and we'll all make fun of you! 300 Holland and 375 Holland is like peas and carrots. 7x57 and 9.3x62 ditto is bratwurst and beer. But Deutsch with English? I say, it's just not done old boy!

This past fall while on my way to hunt whitetail in Saskatchewan I stopped off at Prophet River Firearms in Lloydminister and picked-up one of those babies. They are very beautiful rifles and well manufactured. However, no way in God's green earth would I purchase one in a large cartridge. The rifle is very small, slim and light like a Merkel and Blazer. I personally would purchase that rifle in a small or medium cartridge like the 7x57, 6.5x55 or a good ole thirty-odd-six.

257 Bob and 35 Whelan.

Or, 280 AI and 338-06.

Or, 308 Norma and 404 Jeffrey.

Edit: Not familiar with this rifle; is the bolt face changeable? Kind of limits the choices if it is not.

It is a break action single shot that is not limited to any family of cartridges, anything goes.
You could get one with .22 Hornet and .375 H&H barrels if you wanted, although that would be a heavy .22 barrel to match the contour of a .375.

That's the way I'm thinking.
9.3x62 is about as large as I would go.

That's why they were laughing. Dammit!

I wouldn't do it. Now, .303 British and .375 H&H maybe....but no, that's not what I'm after.

The 3 pairs at the top of my list are:

.257 Roberts & .30/06
6.5x55 & 9.3x62
7x57 & 9.3x62

What are you going to use this rifle for most? The way I see it the 7x57 or .30-06 will really do it all for +90% of all big game. Are you planning on going to Africa? If not, then maybe move down, instead of up. What about a .222 Remington Magnum or something like that? Or even a .223 for plinking and just having fun?
