The rules changed a few years ago. As a Canadian NIA without a Visa (exempt) you don't need an invite or a hunting license to cross the border with items registered on your Form 6NIA. It doesn't say it specifically (imports only), but temporary imports of Chinese firearms (defensive weapons) will not be approved, but Chinese shotguns should be OK; I tried to add my Norinco recently and the reviewer got back to me real quick to ask to have it stricken from my application. FYI, if you bring significant spare parts for your guns, you need to include those separately on an attached sheet. You may need a hunting license to acquire ammo or shoot it in some states.
