"Taking the pain out of the start of HST" a.k.a. My new XDM-40

I always hated the look of the XD but this one looks pretty decent! I'd love to handle one, looks like it has some potential. I just wish they were more affordable (I don't see why it has to be over $750), Hard to lay out $1100 (after tax/shipping) when I can get a gen4 Glock for $450 less... :/

it looks great tho!

I agree! I have had the privilege of handling/shooting one of these bad boys and I found it to be superior to Glock (ergonomics, trigger, pointability, overall feel) but not enough to warrant the price difference.

But that is for me... if you can afford it, it's definitely worth it. The stainless on OD is a beaut!

Oh and I know the higher bore axis is a gripe with a lot of people but I did not find this to be a problem at all. Muzzle flip was no worse than a Glock and in fact, the .40 I shot was the lowest recoiling .40 I have ever shot (out of USP, P226, G22, P99).

Haters oughta try it first... they will be surprised.

Question for the guys who have handled/shot both the XD and the XDM.
Does the XDM sit as high in the hand as the XD? I'm refering to the bore axis
does the top of the XDM sit lower in the hand than the XD?

I wish they would make these in 10mm...

Yep you really have to hold them and play with them a bit to really appreciate the differences.

While we all give Glock the credit for paving the way for polymer pistols they are pretty basic as far as what you get out of the box.

The Springfield comes with decent case and holsters for the mags and the pistol. And it comes with decent sights. So if you were to go out and equip your entry level G17/G22 with the same it would tack on a reasonable 150 to get a comparable setup...

The holster is decent enough for "casual" range users

All that and the xdm is a better gun and doesn't have a pig nose. ;)

The finish is a better quality than my SigPro 2022

I'll wait till more dealers get their hands on them and price comes down a bit, there's no competition right now so you have to pay a premium. M&P has a lot of nice features as well and it's still only $600-650...I never had a polymer with a stainless slide, so that's nice to have the option.

I agree! this XDM is a decent gun but still it has its own value at a certain level. No way I have to pay more than $750. I can wait but bottom line is use the money get a 1911 instead.
