Talk me into buying a Swiss Arms

How heavy are these things?

About 9 lbs. I find it to balance quite well and do not find it front heavy.
I prefer to run mine bone stock with nothing bolted to it. I absolutely love this rifle. To me anything in .223 feels like a kids toy anyways:p (6'1 215) and LOP is perfect for me.

I liked mine .. but went to a new home. Best Non restricted rifle in its class .. but the 5 round mags suck compared to the AR magazines.

i wouldn't hesitate to suggest one... for a 5.56/223

Have a look at the technical standards the 550s have to pass...

They are impressive machines.

There is ONE reason I don't have one...I am going back to school in the fall and can't commit the funds. Otherwise I would probably sell my 858 and last remaining M14 and buy one.

Even talking about it pushes me close to buying one, even though I know I can't right now.

The Swiss are heavy - Unbelieveably heavy for a .223 poodle shooter. They have the cocking handle on the wrong side, for those of us who initially trained to slaughter the communist threat to this great nation with the C1A1.

Besides that, they are the greatest rifle ever made.

EVER.

Period.

Purely my humble opinion.

Have a great day!

Nice shooting. I never get groups that good in my classic green and I have tried every weight bullet that I can get my hands on.
I am happy that I will hit anything I aim at though.

Target lines?

Hi there.. just noticed your vid about your swiss.. pretty nice groups.. They look pretty similar to mine, always a few fliers... Anyway the question; is not your 10 ring a 2 inch circle? Not a 1 inch circle? That would make your groups just over one inch...Just wondering..

Oh, 100 yards, sorry. Forgot to mention that.

Could have gotten a NEA lower AR receiver and use LAR 10 rnd'ers

Pros,
Easy to obtain
Easy to obtain parts
Swiss made, so quality is exceptional
Americans pay $10k for what we pay $3K for
Utterly reliable in ALL conditions
Accurate, for what it was designed for
Barrel life is 4 times that of an AR
Easy to Clean, Easy to maintain,
Can legally hunt with it, unlike an AR
Hold their value

Cons,
Expensive ( but not for what you get)

If you can afford one and don't buy one you will always regret it, if you do buy one and don't like it you can sell it and have no regrets. There is no real down side to buying one, unless you can't afford it.

Including the fliers, centre to centre, it's around 2", discounting the fliers, it's just under 1".

DO NOT BUY ONE!!!

Get an XCR :) they are coming out with the pistol variant so that means 10 round magazines :) which will work with the rifle :)

I have an XCR-L and have shot the Swiss Arms Green rifle on and off for the last 20 years and would have bought SA Green Rife if I had the money, end of story.
It's simply a superior weapon used by many of the world's finest special forces and possesses an incredibly track record. (many well known rifles don't)

It has only on serious downside: it's expensive.

Buying a rifle is like buying a car as you need to consider short, medium and long term costs...

You can already use the LAR15 magazines in your XCR.

I've shot XCR's before, and they're not even in the same league as the Swiss Arms...

one of the best rifles i own but they are expensive for mags and such and are a bit heavy but guess thats a trade off i love my ar rifles also but hard to beat good old fashion steel compared to alluminum,go buy one youll love it
