Hey guys.

So I finally had a chance to sit down and do a once over of my NR 858 against my NR vz58. I saw the bolt was tabbed on the newer vz58. My 858 wasn't.

I went through the whole gremlin thread and came to the conclusion that it really comes down to the leaf spring locking down the sear. Which wasn't a problem when the. 858 mechanics were untouched for selective fire??

Was the gremlin not a reported issue of the mil surp rifles prior to being modified for the Canadian market? If it's just a matter of balancing the action of the bolt as it cycles then would it be more prudent to tab the bolt or modify the spring.

The bolt is at 'risk' for welding.(improper heat/ poor fit etc)

And the modified spring will fatigue back or affect trigger action

Agreed, get it tabbed, no problems. The reason it wasn't a problem on original mil surp is because of the full auto group. Sear and extra spring etc, no over travel issue and such, no gremlin

Tab is dead simple if you can weld or know someone who can do it. Took me 30 mins to do my own, including clean up. Never looked back...

Mine never actually gave ME the "gremlin"; but other people shooting my 858, would experience it (before the tabbing). Having read up on it, seems like a trigger control issue as much as anything else. Seems to be resolved now, anyway.
