Just my opinion but I wouldn’t be cutting or altering your barrel!! Return the compensator for refund and buy one that fits your barrel. Companies do this to force you into using their OTHER products. Kidd, Volquartsen and Dlask as well as Anarchy Outdoors and Area 419will all fit the threaded Tennon on your barrel. I have owned and used all of these on my Dlask and Kidd barrels. Innsite Arms also make the Heathen which is what’s on my semi rimfire.

All of the threaded rimfire barrels I own are 1/2 x28 and the threaded section is 1/2” in length. First is titanium Anarchy Outdoors thruGBT and the Insite Heathen with tuner and another titanium on a 17 HMR.

Only if that runs afoul of the barrel length/OAL restrictions, I do believe. There's something about "cannot be cut down less than xx length" You can "manufacture" a new barrel to less than that, but not reduce an existing one. Regardless, I wouldn't mess with a barrel like that to fit a compensator unless there was a bad crown or something that justifies cutting on the barrel.
Ahh I see it. Thread spec is fine, there just isn't enough length of the compensator that was threaded. Threads end at the first port, which is less length than the barrel threaded area, so it stops and leaves the gap to the barrel shoulder. This can be tapped as much as you need, though you'll see the muzzle through the first port.

You're saying there's nothing left to thread, but that is not the issue. The comp is bottoming out because TK cut the threads to the end but did not cut them through. Run your tap through the compensator, and cut threads past the end till your tap is completely *through it (where the black arrow is), or touches/bottoms out on the other side by the muzzle.
Verify your barrel threads are good.
This will confirm your threads are cut for the entire length, and let the comp slide past the spot that's holding it up, could be something as minor as half a thread not cut at the end on the comp.
Dlask is known for cutting extra length on their barrel threads, after its installed, the only noticeable thing would be the barrel protruding a few threads inside the muzzle device itself (like the other attachment)

Support doesn't matter. Threads are threads. Any 1/2x28 muzzle device will fit any 1/2x28 barrel.
TK just has that on their website as they are not directly affiliated with Dlask

Recrown with a brass screw and valve lapping compound
Then you make a collar to take up the extra threaded portion of the barrel, or cut it back. - dan

Brownbear53 nailed it, I would thread it through past the first port and run it. You’re never going to notice and it’s likely never going to make a difference, its a comp on a .22 so its not like it’s doing much in the first place lol.

If that were true the device wouldn't screw on more than a turn or so. The problem is the brake thread OAL is shorter than the barrel thread OAL.
Except you are forgetting OAL. A muzzle device with 0.5" of thread isn't going to screw all the way onto a barrel with 0.62" of thread

I saw that with the pics OP provided on this page of the thread. Re: the threads possibly not being deep enough, I've been single point threading on my lathe and test fitting the parts, there comes a point where they will thread partway together, half inch or so, then bind up. Another thou or two depth of cut and a spring pass more to get to perfect mating. It is a possible scenario, though threads should be cut to a standard so that any threaded part made anywhere in the world can mate with any threaded part made somewhere else. The fit isn't machinist perfect, but threaded parts generally don't have to be.
