How much better is the tanfoglio stock 2 from the CZ SP 01 shadow. I dont care about the price. I just want to know if the tanfoglio will deliver at 2X the price (Trigger, accuracy, sights....) in 9mm of course.

the cz is a very decent ipsc production gun. CZ custom parts are production legal so it can be tricked out to whatever you want it to be.

I have not shot the stock II. From the photos it looks like a very decent production gun. Same CZ ergonomics, larger magwell. Bull Barrel, looks like the bee`s knees for competition.

As for the Price differential anybody who spent the additional cash it obviously was ``worth it to them`. If you are seriously shooting ipsc the price difference is pretty inconsequential. Airfare, Hotels, restaruants, competition equipment, ammo and more ammo it all ads up. To the point that the price of the pistol is just a small part of the cost of enjoying the sport.

Is the Tanfoglio worth 2x the cost of the Shadow? Only you can answer that after checking out both pistols. If money is not a issue for you then buy both. Sell the one you like less.

I would say definitely no. Why would you argue with a gun with great balance, good heft, awesome trigger and flawless action... I am of course refering to... both. If they cost the same, I'd say pick the one who's colour you prefer. As the Tan is much more $, go with the CZ.

There are only so many Tanfoglio Stock IIs out there so opinions you get will generally be uninformed, so I'll add a post.

I'm not going to dump on the Shadow. It's an OK gun. I'll just clarify the Stock II.

Here's the features that the Stock II offers:

Bull Barrel - extra forward weight.
Polygonal Barrel - accuracy with cheap bullets.
Flared Mag Opening (almost a magwell)
High grip beavertail
Overtravel adjustment on the trigger.
Squared Trigger guard for those that like the weak hand index finger out front.
Full length dust cover.
Fully adjustable match sights.
All Steel magazines.
Wide safeties for thumb rests to get your hand up higher.
Stainless Steel construction.

I noticed that too. Also, there aren't any decent pictures anywhere. It seems like there's one picture from the left side that everybody uses. I think I would be more inclined to drop that kind of money on an item if there were more detailed pictures. I was able to hold a Shadow and liked it, so I bought it. I wonder if I would have picked the Stock II if there had been more details and pictures or one in the area for me to hold in my hand.

I don't have a Stock 11 but I do have the Tanfoglio Model "L". My comments relate to the grip. Because Tanfoglio reconfigured the mainspring in cloning the CZ the cut under the Beavertail is deeper and for me it provdies a better grip than the Shadow (I have the Shadow, SP-01 and CZ 85 Combat).

I like both the Shadow and the Tanfoglio. If I was more than just a recreational IPSC shooter I would go with the Stock 11, I like stainless guns, but I am on Slo Mo now so I shoot the Shadow/Model "L" and live with the fact my lack of talent will never catch up to either gun.:D

ps IF you go Stock 11 you should be able to buy .40cal upper for the gun which would open up the option of shooting Standard major. You did say price was no object.

The problem is there is nowhere to try both and compare, its kind of a leep of faith. I've bought too many guns and put them on EE a couple of weeks after because I dont like them. I want a good solid 9mm with a great trigger and that is well built

CZ 85 Combat - well built, reliable with a great trigger properly sprung. Both the Shadow and Stock 11 are great guns for IPSC Production but some find them heavier they need be for what the owners intend to use the gun for. the 85 Combat works great in SSP and ESP Divsions of IDPA. I guess it all depends on what you intend to do with the gun and what your expectations are.

CZ Shadow - well built, reliable with a great trigger. A great gun for IPSC Production and after some weight less great for SSP and ESP in IDPA.

Tanfoglio Stock 11 - well built, reliable with a great trigger. A great gun for IPSC Production. Because it has a cone barrel not legal for IDPA.

STI Trojan - well built, reliable with a great trigger. Not legal for IPSC Production but works great in ESP Division in IDPA.

Do you see a pattern developing here.

There you go all you got to do is decide which one you like and plunk down your money. Have fun.

We've all read the 100 word reviews. It is something completely different to get multiple detailed hi-res images or better yet, have one in your hand.

Forgive my ignorance but why is the STI Trojan no legal for IPSC production? Isn't it a production pistol?
