Target ammo taking a big jump

Ditto CB.

No matter what the lowest prices have been for factory ammo......I've ALWAYS loaded for less. Don't load alot of 12 or 20 anymore......so my savings are more substantial than ever before loading and shooting primarily the 2 small gauges.

And as far as "what's my time worth"....I don't care. As soon as the Bachelor or American Idol comes onto the TV.....I'm into my shop for the next 2 hours. I can have 2 cases loaded in that time. My sanity is worth more to me than my time. :)

Anyone hear anything more concrete on potential ammo price increases? Or is it all still simply at the "rumour" stage?

I was a loading fanatic till someone at Kent Cartridge asked if I'd like to come to work for them.
After a few years of shooting great ammo for little or no cost, you lose the desire to reload. When the writing was on the wall that I was going to lose this great line I made what you might call, a substancial investment in shotshell ammo, both target and hunting. The last fantastic buy was on the Green hulled Gamebore at $30.00 a flat, I bought a few of those........ Starting to run a little low now, and I'm far less generous to siblings. FS
I'm about half and half between factory and reloads but if I'd had the same access to Kent/Gamebore my loader would have gathered dust too. The Kent Target 1 ounce 12 gauge is a favourite of mine.

Which Kent do you prefer in one ounce?

Kent did not deliver all the orders in our area last year. We should check out what is happening this year.

The ones I like are called sporting target. 1200 f.p.s.

A few of the guys in the Calgary order did not get what they ordered. The fellow who did the Calgary order is not sure what will be available for 2010. Last year I only ordered 10 flats. If I get a chance this year it will be 30.

As of right now here in Ontario...Lawry & Hummason are both selling 12 ga & 20 ga ammo @ $55.00 per 10 box flat....plus taxes naturally.

Lawry then adds on freight charges.

Hummason has an offer on right now.....50 flat minimum....no freight charge..delivered to your door.

Would be nice if it dropped more but I think I'd be surprised to ever see it get any better than that. Never know but......

It looks like winchester Super Target shells have actually GONE DOWN IN PRICE for 2010 (wtf?)

Le Baron just updated their 2010 specials (usually available for most if not all of the year). http: //www.lebaron.ca/pdf_files_sp10/specials/specials10_f.pdf

Bad news is you have to shoot winchester ammo and shop at le baron, but sub 0.25$ a shot is fine by me :)

Do they have a website to order from?
Cheers
Pea

No website for Hummason. Lou H. is a product of an earlier time. Very easy to deal with.
Hummason Manufacturing Co 623 Trinity Rd, Ancaster, Ontario L9G 4X1
905-648-3430

Lawry does have a website but since they do not advertise on CGN here's a broken link........lawryshootingsports.com

What kind of shell from hummason?
Thanks

Hummason is currently taking orders for 12 ga and 20 ga Winchester ammo...Super Target I believe.....7 1/2 and 8 shot only available. Minimum 50 flat order...no freight charges to your door. $55.00 per flat plus taxes.

Lawry sells Federal ammo....has it right now also at $55.00 per flat...don't know what shot size.....plus taxes...plus freight.

Hummason's is a limited time offer....and I think time is running out. He told me yesterday he was just talking with Winchester. Sounds like he may be placing the final order with them soon. Hope so....I just ordered 85 flats and hope to get them soon.

I get my Kent target 12Ga # 8 for $66.00 a flat & share a pallet, Can some one from Kent confirm this 20% price jump?

Last time most target ammo took a jump, Kent price was still good when ordered in volume. The problem with Kent was that last year they did not fill our entire order and a few items still on back order.

I received my Winchester rebate after about 6 months. I got the max amount $100 but it was in the form of a Discovery gift/debit card. Le Baron north of Toronto, where I purchased the Winchester ammo in the first place, would not honour it but they gave me a phone number to call at Winchester. I then went to Bass Pro and they would'nt take it either but the cashier said that Wal-Mart accepted Discovery Cards. Off I went, and sure enough Wal-Mart accepted it. Only thing is they don't sell ammo so I bought a .177 air rifle for my grandson.

But the card is good for any purchase, it's a giftcard.

Hope that helps.
